  • Hi I'm a 57 yr old women who has disc degeneration. I have suffered with back problems since 2006 and have been absent from work since Nov 2019. My employer has rejected my request for ill health retirement following the report from the independent doctor. Is there anything I can to to help my case?

I take it that the Occ Health Dr didn't recommend you for IHR, not that your employer has just rejected your request off their own bat?

  • Yes that's correct they have rejected my request for ill health retirement even though my Occ Health Team sounded quite positive I would at least get tier 3, if not tier 2.

'Sounding positive' still doesn't mean that they actually did recommend you for Tier 2 or 3.  Do you know what the final result was?

I very strongly advise you, Maxdobe37 that you do not put your or any other personal details online. Take these two photos down and blackout all the relevant personal/employments details, please.
  • Thank you for comment do you know how I can deleted?

Some of my physio was completed via Zoom (Aug) following which I was recommended to attend the clinic during lockdown and was referred to the senior consult who was still unable to relieve my pain.  My visit were after this report was completed.
    Grateful for your help.

    Hi Maxdobe37

i agree with JoeCrystal. As soon as you can please take down the version of your letters that you have posted. Even though most people are honest and genuine, it contains far much personal information that it isn’t safe to post in a public forum like this.
    Very best wishes.

I further the recommendation to remove your personal details from the letter.

In the meantime, I have read it and, unfortunately, the Occ Health Dr makes it quite clear that he is unable to recommend IHR while you are still in the process of receiving/awaiting further treatment, especially as he seems to think that some improvement may be expected.  This is normal procedure.

You can ask to be re-considered for IHR in the future, but it will all depend on how successful your treatment is.
