hello,
im in my 1st yr of my IVA and all was going well until i got a call today from my bank stating that they have heard that im in an IVA and are closing my current account in 30 days.
now im really stuck as what to do because i really need a bank account for my pay to go into and due to the nature of my job i need a debit card NOT a cash card.its just my job takes me abroad on a daily basis (i work for an airline) and i simply cant use cash cards abroad so having a debit card is a must have. now most of the basic current accounts ive seen only have cash cards (if your lucky).so does anyone know of a bank that would accept me on an IVA that still issues debit cards?..along with just having a basic account?...im very stuck and really dont know where to look!...i used to bank with HSBC and currently bank with firstdirect (closing on me) so i know these wont take me on.
any ideas??..im desperate!

See this sticky on the bankruptcy board.

If BR's can get accounts with a debit card at the Co-operative bank then so can you in an IVA (unless you owe them loads). Otherwise look through the FSA's list and start checking with these banks whether you will be accepted.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi There,
When we went into our IVA with Debt Free Direct i think the only good advice they gave us was to clear the money from our current account as soon as and open a basic account with a few companies they gave us names for. The only one in my area was the Halifax.
For a basic account there they do not do a credit search. I opened mine online and have been using it ever since.
However, due to the level of BAD advice from DFD i find my IVA is a complete waste of time and am contemplating BR.
Good luck
Ash0
