Hi all
I'm a UK expat currently working in Malaysia. I'd like to buy a property back home in England to let out but I'm having trouble finding a lender willing to give me a mortgage. The only possibilities I've found so far are HSBC (who require you to have a very large amount in an account with them before they give a mortgage) or Skipton International (who require a salary above the amount I earn). Does anyone know of any other lenders offering expat mortgages or broker who would be able to help me find some options? I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Hi,
I'm currently trying to do the same thing. Did you have any luck?

Find a broker who specialises in expat Mortgages. It will save you a lot of time (I say that as someone who does not do expat mortgages).I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. It's a tricky market.
It helps if:
You have paid tax in the UK in the last 5 years.
You have a couple of other items of UK credit running in addition to your current mortgage.
Also, as stated above, you need a Broker familiar with these types of cases.I am a Mortgage Broker
