hi guys,
i just wanted to say a big thank you for letting me know about the 'snowball' calculator - i have just had a look at it and feel i may well be heading for an evening of entering all my details - sorry to sound so nerdy but i think its such a great tool cant wait to get a debt free date

lol shes thinking of edinburgh which is just about as far away as you can get!!! but you are right an action plan is a good thing - will put some thought into that
thanks!!!!!!!
Tell her not to worry about the loan. Just think of it as a graduate tax. I've jst graduated, got a job on £21k a year, will start paying the minimum £50 ish a month from April.
You don't even have to think about paying it off, it comes out your PAYE.0 -
Had a think about the graduate plan. I used to live on a packet of Minstrels a day (cost about 30p:D) and a packet of "Luxury" length B & H. Not a cheap option these days. DD is obviously VV posh a Brevil Sandwich maker:rotfl:. Can you imagine what a state that will be in at the end of term when it hasn't been cleaned...0

What a star you are robp - i like your style in my day it was just the alchohol!! no wonder i was so slim then!!!
by the way just looked at the bottom of your post at your interest saved so far £90,908 - you should be so proud that is phenomenal - how did you work that out?
We entered our mortgage details into the Egg Mortgage Calculator and then added the overpayment that we just made.
Ours is one of those 'lucky' situations I guess.
We both had our own houses before we met and sold them both to buy our new one. My house went through first and we used that equity as a deposit for the new house. My wife's house has just sold leaving us with that equity to start paying chunks off the mortgage.
We were talking about this over a curry last night (I know, how romantic!), and will now be looking at ways to invest the remainder until next May when we can make another 10% overpayment.
Last nigtht we checked our Gas & Electricity bills on one of the comparison sites mentioned on MSE and swapped to a cheaper provider (KW/h unit price is cheaper), who also has a better customer satisfaction rating.
Next for invetigation is Broadband......already have some ideas there!
We are both now on Pay as You Go mobiles too which has reduced monthly outgoings, and use Skype or Call18866 when possible.0 -
Well, im impressed - a romantic curry - you will have to let me know how that went!!! if we have curry we end up with stinky breath and other half falls asleep! I have gone through our utilities with a fine toothcomb and swopped and cut back on everything - we even had one of these guys who come to the door to try to get you to switch gas and electricity - i pulled out our bills with edf and even he had to say that he couldnt match the price we had got! ( i felt really chuffed about that!)
As for the breville sandwich toaster - i dont think she would have the energy to use it - you know what teenagers are like - they would give a sloth a run for its money!Pay off 20k by Xmas 2008/Paid so far £406.65/4822.040 -

You don't need to clean a brevil! We used to just leave it on until it burned off all of the germs and residue. We used to put our leftovers in it to make experimental sandwiches, it was great. Well, until that nasty food poisoning incident marred our fun.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)
