New Job, Advice on Supervisor..

Hi all,

New here just wanted some opinions please...

Started new job a month ago for a logistics firm, I have experience in the field and was thrilled when offered the position.

My supervisor has been at the company over 12 years and highly knowledgable as you'd hope but her people skills are leaving a lot to be desired.

For example every other word is an F, not that I'm sensitive about swearing but not at work every few seconds?! Secondly she goes out of her way to humiliate other co-workers in front of their colleagues with her self proclaimed "no nonsense"... I have to look away when she lays in to people. She also lives by the mantra that being nice gets you nowhere and is always trying to get me to be like her, I've found that in over 25 years of working I've done alright being assertive but always polite... she brags that people look at her with fear and says she thrives on this. As a new team member I am obviously still learning but this morning she felt it acceptable to give me a dressing down because I had supposedly not done my job only to look foolish when the person training me spoke up and said yes i did do it because she is still checking my work over!

I am not a whinger, I have always got on well in my jobs and have had a variety of managers but I do feel as though if I am not like her i won't progress. My other colleagues are a mixed bag but that doesn't bother me so much.

Anyway just wondered if anyone had been through anything similar really!
