Is credit check done before the underwriter requesting more documents?

Hello, my partner and I have applied for a mortgage 2 weeks ago with principality the underwriter came back to us yesterday and said she is happy with affordability bit in order to get to offer she needs to see a few more documents from our rented address (which is fine and we have them) valuation being done today but was just wondering would the credit check have been done before all this as when I checked my credit report there are no new searches on there? Thank you all

Have you checked all three versions of your credit file for the search footprint?

Perhaps the search hasn't yet been logged. The credit system doesn't work in real-time, so instant updates are not always possible.
