DMP over, but now in temp severe financial hardship :(

Today should be the happiest day, we've finally made the last payment on our £62,000 6 1/2 year DMP
Sadly, due to a glitch on our banking app the payment has gone out twice meaning we're massively overdrawn (although obviously don't qualify for an overdraft) and now rackng up charges left right and centre for bounced payments.
Bank are investigating and have themselves raised two official complaints, but just so upset that would should be a joyful occasion has been marred.
Still - one, unexpected child, three redundancies and several big changes in income later we've done it, and I can't quite believe it's over.
Just hope that Payplan can find the duplicate payment and return it quickly, to be fair they've been so kind and helpful today, if only same could be said for bank.

If the duplicated DMP payment was a direct debit your bank must give you an immediate full refund under the banking direct debit guarantee.
If it was a direct debit - do not accept the answer the bank are investigating. Demand the bank refund your money now and a refund of all charges incurred. In such cases where DDs have been paid incorrectly it is the bank's responsibility to recover the duplicated payment - not the customers.
Well done on clearing your debt - I am in awe of you
DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
Sadly - it was a standing order and manual payment. A glitch in the app meant the standing orders weren't displaying, as we had to extend the DMP by a month in January due to death of Mother in Law I assumed it wasn't showing as I had original set it up to end in February, and thus set up a manual payment.
So, today, the SO and manual payment both go out, bank admitting that checking the app at certain times of day makes SOs not display!!
Re the DMP it has been hard, it was much easier when the kids were younger and knew no better (and could have holidays in term time, we got weeks in caravans for about £200). As the eldest started secondary school and the other two are older it's been much harder for all of us as they see what their friends have and we can't afford. And, no matter how many times you tell family you have no money their idea of no money and ours (£30 to food 5 people for a fortnight) never quite matches.
I'm sure we'll look back on this and laugh, just a shame I've spent most of today (at work) in tears:eek::eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20170 -
