1st personal trainer session, what to expect?

I have been calorie counting and exercising since christmas and really enjoying it, lost 31lbs in the process with a bit more to go.
I have been attending a few classes per week and doing cardio a couple of days. Anyway when i attended my boxercise class last night i was asking the instructor for advice on what exactly i should be doing in the gym. Just now i just seem to do intervals on bike, treadmill, rower and crosstrainer. He advised that i should undertake a 1 to 1 with him and he will draw up a 6 week exercise plan for me to work to, i can either see him aswell or do it by myself. We arranged to meet tonight so he can see my capabilities etc
What should i expect tonight? I am still seriously unfit and dont want to make a fool of myself. Will he take measurements, my weight etc?

He probably will want to take your measurements and record your weight. Although if you don't want to do this just tell him.
He will talk about the goals that you have and what you would like to achieve.
He will suggest a programme and ask you to commit to that and sell you on the results that you can expect.
I wouldn't worry about being unfit etc, they see all sorts of people and all levels of fitness and they enjoy the challenge and potential progress and results.0 -
You are the client going in for a personal session.
So its all about you.
Relax, your first session will be about seeing where you are going, you fitness level etc.
Everyone has their preferences & style. Me, I like a good 'beasting' and left hurting. So I tell my PTs to push me hard and don't worry about keeping on at me.0 -
Weewdy, if you are doing intervals, then are probably more advanced than most folks in the gym.
Most folks just tick over at the same level at my gym.0 -
Thank you for your responses. I thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so im back for another session on monday as we couldnt fit it all in. Its more the weight side of it andygb i am struggling with. I have no idea when it comes to weights and normally just lift a few 20kg weights and leave, he took time and showed me exactly what exercises are good for the areas i want to improve.0
