My daughter applied for a tax rebate some 5 weeks ago.she phoned hmrc today and was told she would have to wait until 6th April. Is this the norm? The gov.uk website says a rebate will be paid within 5 weeks of applying.
Thanks in advance

the tax year ends on the 5th April, until then they cannot be 100% sure of the final income for the year...she could still earn more this year0
-
But there are some tax repayments which can be claimed before the tax year ends.
How did she claim/apply? Was a particular form filled in?0 -
She applied on line P800 and was given a reference number etc and a response saying they will be in touch0
-
P800 is a calculation HMRC send out not a form for applying for a refund.
Did she receive a P800 showing a refund was due then go online to provide bank account details for the refund to be paid into her account?0 -
Not sure. I think I will get her to call them again to confirm she has definitely made a claim for the tax refund.0
