any thoughts how to get rid of gnats hovering over kitchen drain?
it's outside the kitchen window and fed up looking at the view with a swirl of hovering mini-flies.
it's a long-standing problem which seems to stop over winter, but starting up again on warmer days.
I've put some Soda Crystal down and around the drain.
anything else I can do?
thank you

Your drains are dirty which is attracting them
Caustic soda will clean them but you need to look long term what's going in your drains
I've a septic tank which makes me really aware. I keep a jam jar on the window sill and all cooking fat is poured into that. When it's full, It goes recycling centre when someone is heading that way
Dishwasher only gets half a tab, everything still comes out clean
Washing machine is the same. I'm back on powder and just half a scoop on a hotter wash. Never wash below 40. Not had a problem with the drains since0 -
It isn't dirt, it's water that attracts them.
If the area is always damp, the midges will be there.
Make sure the water is going straight down the drain and not splashing onto the area around it and perhaps invest in a cover.0
