Mis-sold solar panel reclaiming fees

My position is slightly different as our panels were free however what we were told was that if for any reason we didn't want the panels anymore we needed to give the company 30 days written notice and they would remove them, this was a blantant lie as we found out when we tried to sell our house. The original company who supplied and fitted the panels went bust and the company who took them over refused to honour the 'understanding' as they put it and they pointed out that the contract was actually different in it's wording as it stated that the contract was for 25 year lease of the roof of our house which of course made the sale unviable unless we bought out the panels which we had to do to the tune of 12,000 pounds. Now as we were told by the original company that we could have them removed 'At any time' I'm of course angry that this wasn't honoured I suppose it's my word against theirs but do any of you think I have a case?0

Did you not read the contract before you signed it ? With free panels you are effectively renting-out your roofspace, often for 25 years. If I understand correctly, it is quite common to be asked to pay a lump sum of £10,000 or more if the owner wishes to get out of the contract.

Hi. Interested to see the comments on here.
We had solar panels fitted in 2014 for £11500. Although the feed in and export tariffs never quite covered the cost of the loan, it was not that far off, especially if you took the electricity saving into account, which was substantial. We took out a loan through Barclays (via the installer, who have now gone bust) but only had the loan for a bit since I transferred it to a personal loan through my bank which was much cheaper.
We have never regretted having them installed. We only had electricity when they were fitted and they brought down the bills markedly. Even now we have gas our combined fuel bills are noticeably less than our neighbours (to the point where when I enter the amount I pay on comparison sites I am asked "Are you sure?").
Thing is, I was contacted by Barclays themselves last November saying that I may have been mis-sold. I gave them the info they asked for and am awaiting the results.
I will post back here when and if I get anything but has anyone else got anything back in this, or a similar situation?0 -
I maybe over hopefull. 18mths after submiting my complaint and evidence, as asked by Barclays. Today 10/05/22 they replied with " Your loan is being reviewed". Like many the projected income from the solar panels fell short of expectations.0
