  • Still going well then SMF - sounds like you are still well and truly under control! You're still doing brilliantly with the energy use thing too - I'm totally impressed.

We've not done anything about the christmas shopping yet either - I find it hard to get organised for Christmas until December is looming a bit closer - I usually do the bulk of it in two days out - one with my Mum and then a second day with Mr EH. We'll probably buy some bits and pieces at the Good Food show too.

Well whoop whoop for intererst rate drop. We currently have a normal payment every month to the Woolwich for just under £1500. I have just been to the Guardian Mortgage calculator and that tells me that the payment per month for a £125k mortgage over 19 years should be £750 at 3.5% , so the SMFs are currently overpaying a further £750 per month:j:j - so actual monthly op is in the region of £1750.

The overpayment mortgage calculator on Fool tells me we will be completely offset in 1 year 2 months and we will be mortage free in 3 years 3 months (including endowment), 4 years 6 months without endowment.

    Happy Days:D

I can't think that far a head because I worry that we'll lose our jobs and all our hard work will be spoilt:o. Depressing I know....does anyone else feel like this?...So I just plough on knowing that we will be better placed if we do lose our income,as we will be able to find jobs that pay less and still be OK. Pension plans are not going well either.

    Gosh that's cheerful isn't it? Sorry:p

Hi smf, it's hard to make plans as you never know what's round the corner but as you say if you do lose your jobs then the work you've put in now will help you out. I've forgotten what you do as a job but is it on dodgy ground?

    What's happening with the pensions?

I agree with you. I lost my job and awaiting to start a new job with fewer hours due to childcare and husband currently works in the housing industry which is not getting any better, so we will see what the future holds for us. I have been making extra payment to our mortgage and hopefully can continue if our circumstances stay the same but who knows. Also been hearing bad news about really hard to find a decent mortgage - hope this picks up in April/May 2009 as we have to find another deal then.
