Very true Paddyrg and a further issue is many do not use their first language correctly. I remember being in a bar in Edinburgh with my spanish wife (speaks English at intermediate level). She asked what the barman had said. I didn't have a clue. Hope he never teaches English :rotfl:
One thing that concerns me is it is often stated the main motivation for doing a TEFL/TESOL course is to travel the world. You'd think wanting to teach might be a better top motivation. But c'est la vie :beer:I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance :beer:0 -
The one recommendation that I'd make, should your motivation be to teach and travel, is that you go for CELTA specifically, rather than any old TEFL/TESOL course. Many employers prefer the official Cambridge qualification. I obtained mine alongside my degree, though I believe it's 4 weeks full time study / 16 weeks part time.0
