Credit Repair Company Or can i DIY it?

I am currently attempting to get my credit back in shape ready for the the purchase of new property next year, and i sought the use of a credit repair company called "MERCRON CREDIT SERVICES LTD" i was wondering if any one had hearrd of the and could recommend them, as they do charge £68 and expect you to pickup the cost of aquiring my own credit report from Experian.
If its not worth it would i be able to rectify my credit history alone??

  • Hi tntunited....... I'm afraid I don't have the answer, so I hope someone comes a long soon who does..... IMHO tho, I never trust a company that charges for something u can do urself.... We are rebuilding OH's history by getting a CC (albeit carp APR) and spending/paying off each month. Eventually things will get better!

    Good luck

Run away!!!! Dont pay them anything, they wont do anything for you that you cant do yourself. The £68 is better off in YOUR pocket.

Get your own credit report, check everything on there, and be good with those cards!

I honestly dont see what they could do for you, there was another poster on here a couple of days ago asking EXACTLY the same thing actually, they were going to call the company just to report back here, try and find the post, it may help you.

  • I've heard stuff about credit repair companies improving people's records in 'illegal' ways as well. Generally, there's nothing legal they can do that you can't do yourself if you read up on how. As for illegal stuff, better to steer clear of that!

Search the threads on here and you will find more information about credit repair companies.

IMO credit "repair" companies are just another way to get cash out of people who have already fallen on hard times. Keep your money. Speak to the CCCS (Consumer Credit Counselling Service) or CAB (Citizen's Advice Beaureaux) who will do necessary (legal) stuff for free.

Don't forget there's also this very site. We can help you with you're incomings and outgoings, and advise you, to an extent.
