  • One thing I make sometimes that is very cheap is pasta bake. Cooked up penne or similar pasta, pasta bake sauce, grated cheese and cut up cooked hotdogs, then bake it in the oven for 45 mins. Lovely, and makes about 5 meals. It would probably work out to about 70p per serving. Check out the old style forum, lots of recipes on there.

This makes a delicious cheap meal. Fry an onion with a crushed garlic clove. Add a pack of chopped back bacon and some sliced mushrooms. When the bacon is cooked add a jar of passata (34p from Asda), tomato puree, basil, and other herbs to taste. To make the sauce a bit more special wine/chopped salami can be added but it is not essential to do this. Simmer. In the meantime cook a large pan of pasta. Mix the sauce with the pasta and serve hot with a green salad/garlic bread/grated cheese.

  • great, ta for the recipes. i think is a task i can my teeth into.

    soup recipe:
    2 chopped onions
    1-2 teaspoons of dired coriander
    5 carrots
    1 veg stock cube
    pepper to taste
    olive oil
    chilli flakes

cook the carrotts in boiling water
then, in another pan add onions, oil, chilli flakes (just a few) and dried coriander, until cooked through.
add veg stock into the carrots
once veg stock is blended, let both pans cool for ten minutes before blending together
after 10 mins....use a hand belnder and mush up everything together. Then return to a big pan and let it warm through for about 10 mins.
