Advice on applying for readvertised job

Hello

Would be interested in getting some advice on how to proceed with this...

I applied for a position back in July last year, and went through a lengthy recruitment process over 3 months - 1 telephone, 3 face to face interviews and psychometric tests. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful but had positive feedback from recruiter in that I got down to last two but was just 'pipped to the most' by the other candidate. I was told I should keep an eye on the website in case anything else came up.

Just seen the same job ad advertised again. I am pretty sure it is another position rather than replacing the chap who beat me to the first job. Some minor tweaks to the job spec.

Should I drop a note to the original recruiter asking if they would be interested in my applying for this new role? Or apply anyway? Should I make reference to my previous application in covering letter?

Bit of an odd situation and not quite sure how to play it! Despite the previous disappointment am still interested as a good job with a great company...

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Richard

definitely. At worse you'll know if their previous response was true or made up to make you feel better. If that turns out to be the case, would you really want to work for such a boss anyway?
