Tickets on sale early if you register your interest according to the news, although apparently the website experienced some problems this morning.

Hi Edinburghlass. Could you tell me what I am buying here? We normally celebrate locally but are having visitors from abroad this New Year so thought might try this. How much is it and what do you get?0

I posted information on the end of last years post about this yesterday, but now i cant find the thread anywhere
. Anyways I got my passes and was looking for information on some nice reasonably priced accommodation (i know everythings going to be sky high at the new year
). Does anyone know if the street party is alright for kids, mine are 9 and 13??

From what I gather it is £5 per person and this gets you into Princes Street and the 3 stages there but not the concert in Princes Street gardens.

limited to 4 per person.0 -

I just checked the Travel Lodge site and the Central one is fully booked, Dreghorn is £95 per night but Livingston is £70 and you could use a Park and Ride.
This website is advertised on the above website but I don't know much about it nor have I looked at prices etc...

Scottishf - in response to your comment re bringing along the kids.
I've been to the street party a number of times and it is busy, although that can depend on where you stand and it is of course very lively which is the fun of it, so you'll need to be prepared to hang on to them tight. If you're bringing them be prepared for quite a bit of standing about, which could be a bit miserable for them if the weather is not so good, and getting hugged and jumped up and down wildly at the bells and fireworks.
Will leave you to make up your mind - but hope this helps.0 -
I'm moving soon, and see that Blackford Hill has fireworks. Any good?
I have to drive to ma & pa's on 1st for steak pie, so can't get too miraculous: any good do's around Bruntsfield/Morningside on Hogmanay, so I am home early.
Boring old f**t that I am. Also any good do's on 1st/2nd when I'm back!0 -
The Seven Hills fireworks are timed to go off simultaneously and depending on where you view from you can see them all. I'm not sure that they actually do anything special at the venues but I would think that Blackford Hill is probably quite a good vantage point to catch them all.0

Nope!
And for a very simple reason : last year's street party was cancelled (due to 'high winds and dangerous weather' meaning their stages might fall down or something). The same thing happened in Glasgow, and, I believe, Aberdeen.
Edinburgh's street party was cancelled the year before due to weather, too.
Me and friends have decided there's a jinx there and are hoping for Ashton Lane in Glasgow instead!0
