    Do you earn over 11k?
  • yes i do personally, but my wife is a stay at home mum
  • HMRC changed me from 1100L to 263T after going through the instructions on here.

i would advise anyone thinking they are saving money following the instructions to be very careful. its cost me more than £100 a month and the hassle of argueing with HMRC to get it changed back to 1100L

Do you mean Marriage Allowance rather than Married Couples Allowance?

Ask HMRC to remove the W1, you are on a non cumulative tax code.
  • The op appears to have applied when it is clear on gov.uk that the lower earner applies, presumably the op has transferred some of their allowance to the spouse when it should have been the spouse applying
  • This of course assumes op means the Marriage Allowance and not the Married Couples Allowance

no to avoid confusion my wife applied, but HMRC took my main job to be a second job for whatever reason and screwed up.

So if and when you do apply i would advise to back it up with a call to HMRC to make sure there's no confusion. They changed my tax code from 1100L to 263T then to 1210M.

    1210M is the correct code.

sorry i saw less take home and panicked.
