Loan default

For some reason my direct debit loan repayments stopped being paid to RBS just over a year ago. They have just issued a court judgment saying that I owe full amount of loan. However, they have never been in contact with me - and were using an address that was previous to my last address. They are saying that it is my fault their records are not up-to-date and that I must now pay the full amount (£10k) - even although I have never received any communication from them (I also have a mint card which is RBS). They are now saying they can stake a claim on my house for the loan recovery. Is there no other way to repay this - I have no problem with paying monthly - do I have any rights here ?
thanks
