Stopping a PPI claim to try yourself

Options
Hi all,
My mother has just been contacted by a company by letter, they asked her to confirm that they were dealing with her (the letter just wanted her to sign to say she is the person they addressed it to), also in the document were details of Solicitors my mother could call to confirm their identity and credentials etc.
At this point my mother called me to ask my views and I immediately said it sounds like PPI to me and so I checked out both the company and solicitor online, both checked out and the company that contacted my mother are a inheritance trust tracking company where they are responsible for finding lost people who are owed monies etc...
My mother signed the letter and sent it off, she did call them first but they gave nothing away except that when my mother asked them if she should just bin the paperwork that they said "you won't want to when you see how much it's for)....hmm
Anyway they called my mother and have told her that it's to do with an old house she had about 20 years ago and was mortgaged through Barclays, and that it (forgive me here as I can't fully remember) to do with profit made by the bank 10 years after she gave the keys back to the bank (couldn't continue paying mortgage).
So, this surely is some sort of PPI claim and my question is can my mother pull out of it with the company that contacted her now claim through Barclays?
Any ideas or help would be appreciated!! Thank you

Cant see what PPI would have to do with it. PPI doesnt see firms pro-actively employ third parties to track people down. When they do track people, they use large nationals.

Depends on whether she has entered into a contract and what the contract terms say in respect of cancellation.
