If I transfer out, took a tax free sum and drew an income from the rest, assume I will need adviser to manage the portfolio making adjustments as we go along.
Does anyone know roughly how often portfolio's are reviewed, and how much an adviser would charge each time they look at.

You pay for ongoing servicing (or not if you run the portfolio yourself), and AFAIK, it tends to be yearly.0

If you could not manage your own portfolio then you would take independent financial advice - the level of fees will depend on the individual adviser.
There is no alternative to doing your research using the links that have already been provided.0
