Starting work before seeing contract or job terms

Hi Everyone,
I accepted a job six weeks ago and am due to start tomorrow, I have done some training for the role already but have yet to sign anything or see any contract or job terms.
Is it unreasonable for me to say that I want clarification on things such as salary, hours and holiday entitlement before I start work? Or are they allowed to withhold a contract until after I start working?
Any advice or experience with similar situations would be great.
Many Thanks

No, it is not unreasonable at all.
However, remember a "contract" is not just a piece of paper with the word contract on it! Presumably your job offer had some salary details? Was the job advertised? Where you given further particulars? Did you agree any specific terms at interview? etc etc.
All of these and more form part of your "contract".0 -

Hi, thank you for your reply.
The salary was offered was between two different values (£10-11 an hour) and the hours were approximate. This information was advertised online and I pretty sure that I didn't agree to any terms at the interview stage.0 -

Well you sort of did by accepting the job!0 -

Touch!, but the interview was more of an outline of the role and a discussion about my skills and experiences that I could bring to the role.0 -

Yes, what I was meaning is that you have basically signed up to their standard terms at the salary range that was indicated. Without a "contract" you don't even have to give any notice during the first month so if they don't give you what you are expecting you can say "sort it or I'm off". Obviously though, they could say the same to you.0 -
When I started work at DWP I didn't get a copy of the contract for 6 months!0

how did you agree?
what do you have in writing communication between you
always best to do it in writing with something that outlines your understanding of the basic particulars or asks for clarification.0 -
Thank you for all of your replies, I eventually managed to get in touch with my work and they said the contract was "in the post" and "should have arrived already".
Which hopefully means it's now on its way.0 -

Classic fob-off; don't be surprised when it doesn't turn up.
For your sake I hope I'm wrong...The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
