Getting a mortgage when discharged from bankruptcy??

Can anyone give any advice on Mortgage companies, and which...if any....can help a young couple get on the property ladder, both of whom have been discharged from bankruptcy recently?

  • You will need to go to an independant financial adviser who will look at the whole market. You may pay over the odds at the moment with the interest. Also they may want quite a substantial deposit. You might also find that if you have only recently been discharged you won't be able to get a mortgage at the moment and will have to wait a while.

  • I wouldn't touch a new mortgage with a bargepole at the moment given everything that has been going on with lenders etc
