self employed week in hand

hi im currently a self employed valeter ,does anyone know any information on working a week in hand if you are self employed,from my point of view if i start work on a monday surely i should get paid on that friday as i do not trust any of the companies i work for to give me my week in hand when i finish

If you are self employed you get paid when you finish the job {ie one car done get paid}. As above seems correct to me.

Some companies work on a 30 day turn round for invoices. One shop I deliver for I invoice at the end of the week but it could take upto 8 weeks before I'm actually paid.
