thermos flask lid stuck

This may be a stupid question, but does anyone know any old style tricks of how to get a thermos lid off as mine is stuck solid. It's one of those food flasks. My usual technique of using rubber gloves just hasn't worked.

Try holding lid part under a running hot tap

With luck the heat will expand the lid before it expands the body and thus loosen the threaded area, that's the theory anyway
