Seeking Advice

Hi Everyone,
I was looking for a little advice really. I don't enjoy my job really but can't see a clear way out? I work at a large phone network in there sales team, I have been here for the last 2 years as one of the higher achievers. I consider myself well liked and get on well with other staff but I find myself watching the clock every shift. Is this common? Should I be happy that I have a job?
The pay is not the worst, it has allowed me to buy my first home with my partner at the age of 25. I originally got my Degree in Metalworking as thought a career in that would be for me but when I got back and job options were no where to be found I settled into a job here. To start with I loved it but now each day I find it more and more boring.
I have thought about doing some night courses in welding or teaching to open up a few more options. Just looking for advice from anyone that has found themselves in a little bit of rut and how they got out of it?

I changed career for the umpteenth time again in December in my mid 40s. Originally started out in electronics/computing when I left school, did all kinds of different stuff for a few years whilst I found my way, went into vehicle mechanics, then health forced me to quit that and I went into trucking as I had a HGV license, got fed up of that after half a decade and moved onto computers, got fed up of idiots after three years and hated it and went back into trucking, stopped that due to ill health 8 years later and went back to computers, left that when the bottom fell out of it after half a decade and went back to trucking and after another 3 years of that last year finally had my fill of 12-15hr days/nights and went back into a computing/electronics workshop role. I've taken a kick in the nuts with the pay compared to truck driving but that's mostly down to only doing 37hrs instead of 60+ a week.
As long as what you do can provide the income you want you are better doing something you're happy with than wasting your life ending work on Friday and spending all weekend in misery knowing Monday morning is looming. Money wise yeah there's a likelihood you're going to lose out but for some reason I've never seemed to. Sure I've not done as well as I could do and had I stayed put in the same place for years as my brother did I'd be in management by now but although his house is worth twice mine I look at him and he's as miserable as sin and has been suffering stress related issues for a while and his job is far from one that should be causing him stress. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
