In terms of the data protecction act I would have though that the company ( or person) who passed on your hubby details to the successful candidate would be in clear breach
it might be worth speaking to the Information Commissioners office- they have a fab helpline, very useful, they might be able to shed some light on.
Sounds v fishy to me, Id get your OH to sue for sure.:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Is your husband a union member (TSSA)? If so perhaps it's time to get an officer involved. So many issues are open to question, disability/equality, confidentiality/data protection, recruitment/promotion policy breach.

I applied for a great job once and didn't get it because they had to give it to somebody with a disability - to meet their quota.
Even though it turned into a nightmare for them and the person was wrong for the job entirely.
Fact is, there are hidden agendas when you apply for a job. Nothing to do with a disability you may/may not have.
And emerging agendas. Sometimes some skill/whatever isn't even mentioned in the advert, but some applicant has something on their CV that suddenly makes the employer spot a new opportunity - and they want to use this.
Everybody who doesn't get a job thinks they were discriminated against. I'd say even if anybody IS discriminated against, they'd be hard pushed to find evidence/prove it to be honest.
Even though they knew he didn't have experience in one particular area when he applied, doesn't mean any more than they let him have a shot at it anyway.
Just because he didn't get the job doesn't mean he was discriminated against, just he wasn't the one they chose for any one of what could be 100 reasons.
There are many jobs I go for that I am qualified for - and do well at interview for. I don't get them. I could say it's because I am late 40s. I could blame being a woman in IT. Fact is: they can only choose ONE person and they choose that person based on skills, experience, new potentials they spot, how they think they will fit with the team, how much they warm to them. You can't get every job you apply for, or there'd be no interviews at all. For every 1 person getting a job, there are 50 who never even got an interview and 5 who got told "no".0 -
Sorry, I'd read it as an internal promotion. So, the MD who is moving to a new company wanted your DH to be offered a job there, but it didn't happen. I'm not sure there's a lot to be done about that: even if he does make a formal complaint, involve a union etc, at the end of the day he's not employed by this other company, they can't sack the person they have now appointed. Really it's up to the MD who's moved to kick up a fuss if procedures have been breached, because I don't think your DH is going to be in a position to 'prove' anything.Signature removed for peace of mind0
