I work for a family run business which employs around 35 employees, the boss has the final say, but there is one of my colleagues who i dont bother with at all for this past few years, a while back my dog died after having him for 18 years, but the day after the dog died the colleague who i dont bother with started shouting at me when passing "walkies lets go Walkies" surely in reference to my dog, i took this matter up with my employer and he said he would speak to the said person, but he denied any knowdledge, so my boss asked other workers if they heard him but none would get involved one way or the other, so he said it was a matter of my word against his and he didn't have enough evidence to take the matter forward, i told him at the time that this was weak management, so this colleague who is winding me up has kept this going for a long time on a daily bias but today i had enough and went back to my employer and made a complaint but this time other workers have heard him on several occasions shouting at me, so i have to go to a meeting on Monday regarding this so can anyone offer me any guidance on what i should and should be saying at this meeting, to be honest this is starting to effect me not only in work but also in my private life.

How old is this colleague who has been doing this ?
Why is it employees cant act like adults unless they don't have the maturity to be an adult.0 -
so my boss asked other workers if they heard him but none would get involvedbut this time other workers have heard him on several occasions shouting at me
Are they prepared to become involved this time and make a written statement?
Why are you permitting someone to shout at you anyway?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
firstly ..I am sorry about the loss of your dog OP
secondly ..and this might sound harsh ..you are only a victim if you allow yourself to be a victim..TBH surely the joke about 'walkies' is running thin with this idiots workmates?
Next and really important....
.Do you enjoy your job?
..If you do actually enjoy your job why do you allow this ***** to influence your life?
Tell the ***** to do one because they really do not matter..they are just a splat on the windowscreen of life0 -
What did you expect your boss to do when they have no evidence and it is one persons word against another? You need to get a grip, as has been said only you allow yourself to be the victimDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
From your boss's POV, he doesn't want to have to deal with this. So, it's black marks all round as far as he is concerned.
You need to get a couple of colleagues to confirm what has been said to you. Only then can you expect the boss to do anything. Unless he wants to get rid of the other employee, he'll probably just have a firm word with him.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
How about responding with 'are you asking me to take you for a walk? Are you that desperate?' Stand up to the wretch!
And after a period of grieving, do think about another dog. I know it won't be the same as your old friend, but your lovely departed dog would not want you to be sad for ever. Dogs bring such a lot of love into our lives, and you could, for example, bring real joy into the life of a dog sitting in a shelter right now.....Ex board guide. Record the audio on your phone when you are around the person so you have proof?0

Record the audio on your phone when you are around the person so you have proof?
Agreed
if their is a dispute with regard to alleged comments being made by this person then you can record his verbal conduct which could be addmisable in court if you decided to proceed with this course of action0
