Scottish Power: No Gas, Missed Appointment, Lies

Very unhappy is an understatement!

It begins at 1900hrs by calling Scottish Power. After being on hold for approx 20 minutes, I spoke to somebody to raise a fault with my meter. (Unresponsive, no gas supply). The lady I spoke to promised me a visit within 4 hours from G4S.

*FAST FORWARD TO 23:30HRS*

After hearing nothing, l called Scottish Power only for it to be closed. I was told by your hard to hear crackly Scottish automated lady to contact G4S OUT OF HOURS number.

Called G4S OUT OF HOURS and after an annoying 40 minute hold, I am told by call taker that G4S don't work for Scottish Power anymore. The good chap said he would investigate. (bearing in mind he doesn't have to because it's not a G4S job).

He returns to me, advising thst;
> Scottish Power did call G4S at 1945hrs but were told they no longer work in area, so SP to contact Lowry Beck.

> Lowry Beck said they can't take job at that time of night, and to call G4S

> Scottish Power contacted G4S at 22:20hrs who said they would take the job in this instance, and arranged to come to my address between 0800 and 1000hrs.

> Scottish Power, nor G4S contacted me to advise of this MISSED APPOINTMENT* and reschedule. Its only lucky I'm not working at that time or wouldn't have known.

- NOW FOR MY RANT -
I have been without gas since the gas key refused to work this morning. I waited a while and topped up key to see if that would kick-start. Nothing. That's why I contacted.

It's been under 5°c today, so the house is freezing. There has been no gas to cook or have hot water.

I've waited since 19:30hrs for an engineer to turn up, who was never going to turn up. I've spent a good hour+ waiting on the phone! This according to Scottish Power website is a MISSED APPOINTMENT, of which a compensation payment is due.

Scottish Power, this is terrible service and it's not the only issue I've had with them in 2017. My other issue is still not resolved. (wrong meter serial numbers which is blocking supplier switch)

I wish to speak to a customer services manager, or to someone with power and authority as this is an absolute farce. And also want to know when I will receive my compensation for the missed appointment. I have emailed them and messaged their Facebook account, but much like my other complaint I expect to hear nothing! Can anyone advise other ways to get hold? Perhaps a representative is on these forums?

For now I am unsure how, but I will take this further if left without gas tomorrow!

Mr Howett

  • HORRAH!.... in a sarcastic tone...

YET AGAIN on the phone with Scottish Power for 45minutes again after the 2nd appointment that I never heard about, but found out after calling G4S never showed.

That is TWO missed appointments to reinstate gas at my address.

So I was promised at 10:16am that it would be another 4 hours because NO job was raised last night... yeah, NO JOB! NOBODY DUE OVER THE 8 HOURS I HAVE WAITED AND WAITED AFTER PROMISING...LOL

And whats more, Scottish Power cant give reference numbers for job repairs. How odd?

So now we wait until 14:16.... will they show? Will I be owed £90.00 from Scottish Power...?

Attempting to switch to nPower with a faulty meter probably wasn't a wsie ide

A faulty meter (i.e. stuck) is not an emergency. It is your supplier who needs to organise the repair/replacement
Your supplier's openning times are on their website

    Good luck!

G4S have sold the Scottish Power gas contract to Morrisons Data Services last month.. I was a meter reader for G4S on the Scot Power contract and this sale took place last month. Not sure who you phone now, sounds like MDS will be as disorganised as G4S if they have nt set these very important contact details in place now with Scottish Power that they have`nt informed their call centre staff. Its def now MDS who you need to call via Scottish Power call centres

I think Morrison Data Services are more of the meter reading side. The metering work will probably be carried out by Morrison Utility Services (MUS). They also do a lot of work for E.ON in the areas of the country they don't have their own technicians. https://www.morrisonus.com/

In relation to the OP's problem I don't think MUS can be blamed if they're not being passed the jobs.

You see there was a time when all the metering was dealt with by a then national company called National Grid. They had lots of people working all hours and would visit within 4 hours for such matters. OFGEM the peoples champion didnt like one company doing it al. Further some gas suppliers wanted it done cheapr so they began to contract it all out. And there we have it.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
