    How long until the wedding?
    Three weeks today!

Had a lovely day out as a sort of hen do: DD asked a number of friends and family - all female - out to a meal which lasted from 12.30 to about 5. H and the baby gave me a lift. I think my share was around £25 though J has paid and is supposed to be sending us an idea what it came to and I don't know which way she's working it out.

We had a grand photo-swapping session on WhatsApp once we got home. :)

I had a text from DH to say the cat's owners had contacted him via the vet so the cat was collected this afternoon and doesn't live too far from us. I really hope the fact it had needed vet treatment goes home to them and they give it the grooming it needs.

DH has taken the garden debris to the tip.

It's late and I have work tomorrow so I'm off to bed!

Things to be thankful for: all the people I've spent today with, the cat having a loving (if not clued up) home, having a pretty dress to wear today, DD having such nice friends. Also looking out of the kitchen door just before midnight to see a faint glow of day in the north and a full moon southwards.
And to look forward to: different work day tomorrow (I cut my nails so I won't be in trouble during training but still have time to get them a bit longer before the wedding!) and then another two days off!

Not such a good day today, partly due to poor sleep last night and weight gain when I weighed myself this morning, and partly due to a team day at work which I found difficult. I came home and cried. :( Managed to hide this from DH who was out when I got back, but did have a moan to him later about one of the managers.

DD has sent through the bill for the meal yesterday which I need to pay tonight or I'll forget. Main = £16, pudding £8, lime cordial £3.50, Americano £3.50. I'll something towards the service charge too..

I had to go to the supermarket to collect my prescription but didn't spend anything (eligible for free prescriptions). I also remembered to check and the nasal spray I bought the other day is okay with my condition and medication so I might use that this evening. There's pollen around. (There's also Covid: a couple of local friends have it so DH and I have decided to be careful again so as hopefully to avoid it before J and L's wedding).

I'm thinking of buying a gift for my sister's neglected Christmas and birthday presents which she gets in summer because that's the only time I see her... I have a collection of small presents for her so I'd like to add something else. It's about £5 if I do buy it.

Things to be thankful for this evening: the shawl I'm crocheting has come along well so far. I've just started the second ball of yarn. Also for a sticky bun after tea!

Yesterday was a better day: Dh and I went for a forest walk with a super view at the high point and a much easier descent than ascent!

Only spending was 99p on an e-book, and my friends called off our meeting in the evening which to be honest worked well for me as I'd dozed off already before tea!

Today has been rather a quiet day but that's all right as I needed some rest. I've run a few errands and done a bit of banking. The car has passed its MOT (£45 plus £120 spent on tyres the other week): other than that I have to admit to spending £1 on some sock yarn and 75p on a spare crochet hook (I don't want to risk delay to current project if I lose the right sized hook) both from a charity shop.

This evening I have my church group, which is always good. I think I need something that isn't work-related! Work and the things we've been through over the past year or two have been on my mind and dragging me down so I'm taking my vitamins and catching up on sleep to help my resilience.

    Spending:
    Hobbies £1.75
    e-book 99p
    Car - £165.00 over 2 occasions
    Housekeeping £15.13
    Clothing £1.95 (sewing thread)
    Gift (greetings card) £2.75

ETA: Things I'm thankful for: beautiful evening sitting out on a patio with friends, plenty of reading material, helpful input.

I spent the morning on the lounge floor with H and the baby! Too hot to go out, but N (baby) is so active now you can see her coming along even over the course of a morning. Today she seems to have been going all out for some sort of record in spinning herself round on her tummy! She got some of her toys and a book and tried out her high chair, and I have a feeling I'm going to be very glad we don't have to listen to 'The Wheels on the Bus' 24/7! Her book plays the tune and she is trying very hard to press the 'play' button.

Work went okay: masks are no longer compulsory unless with clients (not all ours can test for Covid), but I feel a bit wary. I really don't want Covid again around the time of J and L's wedding!

Actually I'm really looking forward to things returning to normal afterwards and a promised meet-up for lunch one Saturday. :)

Talking of Saturdays, I have a copy of my projected new rota with every other Saturday off. I'm not sure whether I like it or not! It's so hard to get the feel of it without living it in real life.

This evening I've watered the plants before coming in for the night. Temperatures are set to be warmer tomorrow and, while we aren't in a particularly hot area, my plants are neglected enough this year without drying them out too.

Things I'm thankful for tonight: finding an easy pattern for a motif to add to the shawl I'm making. Time spent with H and N. Good news about the progress of a friend who's had a lot of medical treatment.

It took me a while to get used to not wearing a mask at work and in shops but it just feels normal now. Some people still wear them but I’m happy not to.

Sounds like the baby is coming along nicely, it’s a lovely age when they’re just starting to discover things.

I miss a couple of days and my diary drops right down the bookmarks...

Friday was hard work: one of the cleaning team was off so there were two of us, and it was a bit too hot for comfort, though we stopped for a cuppa and a chat for a while which helped. I also watered the plants outside which are doing beautifully thanks to the dedication of the environment group.

I went to buy yarn on the way home but decided to search my stash, so a bit of money saved there. I was also quite hungry so I bought myself a doughnut and topped up the groceries. My favourite fruit tea was back in stock so I got two.

Work was full-on: there were only two of us who were fully trained so we were on the go all evening and I ended up staying an hour and a half after I was supposed to leave. Even so I spent ages when I got home on an email to management, then this morning realised I'd left a job undone.

Today was cropped jeans and tee shirt weather in the morning - my sandals have actually been worn twice this year now! DH and I went car booting and I treated myself to two totally unnecessary mugs which are a delight. I've since found them on ebay at about £10 apiece, while I paid £3 for two. I also bought a small box designed to store cotton bobbins (£1.50).

Lunch was fish from the freezer and chips from the chippie, then a spot of gardening before we went for a walk locally with A, H and N, who also brought DH's Father's Day gifts. By this time I was back in jeans, trainers and a zipped-up hoodie! I think the warm spell is over. This evening I had to go back to bed and slept for about an hour: I think yesterday was caching up with me!

    Spending:
    Housekeeping £5.57
    Household £6.45

Things to be thankful for tonight: new favourite mugs, time with A, H and N, catching up on sleep, lots of progress on my crochet project.

We had a nice Father's Day yesterday: dinner with J and L, a walk with them and their dog and lazing around chatting later in the afternoon. We haven't seen DS2 this Father's Day but he sent DH a lovely message.

Today has been back to work for me, and for DH a surprise phone call. His current contract finishes in September and he was wondering what to do next. The phone call was his employers offering him a permanent contract on slightly more hours than at present! It's even focussed on aspects of the job that he prefers!

Nothing spent by me. Dh got some groceries I think.

Things I'm thankful for: lovely day yesterday, safe return of the dog who zoomed out of sight and returned exhausted five minutes later, job offer/acceptance for DH and of course our lovely children who all remembered Father's Day!

It's been a busy day off today!

In the morning we went to the retail park for DH to chose a jumper to wear on the evening of the wedding and amazingly found what he wanted on a '2 for £16' offer, so he now has a couple. We found them so quickly that we had time to resume our abandoned search for new sofas. We'd eventually decided the one we liked best was the same as J and L have, though they'd warned us the fabric went bobbly quite quickly. While DH was talking to the sales assistant trying to find the details, I wandered round the shop and saw another I liked very much.

Long story short, that's what we bought, and at half price as it was returned stock. (£1023 including leather care package and five year after-care). I also spotted two cushions in their sales which I thought might look right and it turned out those had been displayed on the sofa by the shop at one point. So another £40 on cushions which is an extravagance as I'd intended to make new covers for the old cushions (saving from landfill) and I know we'll now have surplus. (Who am I kidding, we have surplus already).

I'm hoping that as it's leather it will last ages. :)

We had to hasten back as I had a meeting for two hours this afternoon. So much for day off but it was constructive. Then we thought it would be safer for the sofa to arrive via the lane at the back so it doesn't have to be edged past kitchen appliances... so we've had a stint of cutting back tree branches which were dipping down low. That in turn reminded me we need to sign up for Council garden waste collection... not quite got there yet!

And while the weather's hot, I'm practising wearing my hair up for the wedding... found a fabric rose in the box of hair ornaments that's possibly been worn as much as once, but it occurred to me to try it with the dress and it's lovely. There are advantages to being grey - a coral rose looks fabulous!

The sofa was a bargain! Leather sofas last years and get better with age.

That's good to hear, thanks! I've never had a leather sofa before but I imagine if we take care of it, it will take care of us. :)
