Not much to report: more grocery shopping today and I managed to forget my prescription so I'll have to go again tomorrow. Work was steady away and I have another two days off from tomorrow.

I'd forgotten J asked if she could work from our house to accommodate a dental appointment and bring the puppy but she turned up this morning so I got to play! The puppy is still a real sweetie, but seemed unwell at one point. J, DH and I all had to go to work so it was a bit scary and all I could think to do was observe and treat her rather like a sick human! She was eating and drinking and taking an interest in things, but breathing rapidly and a bit agitated. Anyway a well-ventilated room, small portion of food and a drink of water, a nap and keeping quiet seem to have helped!

    Spending:
    Housekeeping £20.99

Things I'm thankful for this evening: A feeling a bit better, the puppy apparently also a little better, steady-away at work, days off to come.

  • Glad you were able to have a lovely day with J🙂.

I get occasional visual migraines, usually when super stressed but had no idea of the vitamin B link. Thank you for the tip.

Mine are usually when I'm seriously tired, but I could well be low on B vitamins too.

We went for a short run this morning but I'm glad I didn't make it any longer - I'm very unfit! Not so unfit I couldn't tackle a mound of ironing, though. :) It's nice to have a heap of jeans and tee shirts all ready to wear.

This afternoon DH went on a bike ride, I hung the sheets on the line and the heavens opened. I felt so sorry for poor DH, miles from anywhere, drenched to the skin... turned out it was a localised downpour and he dodged all but a few drops. :) Meanwhile I took a look at our room as we are hoping the chap will come tomorrow to give an opinion on the broken window catch. The room is a disgrace as we tend to put things there that have no home. I couldn't start on the miscellaneous things as I've no idea what to do with them, but I sorted DH's clothing and ran another load through the machine. It all fits in the drawers provided the washing line is also full!

I wonder if the time has come for me to re-read Marie Kondo, though I don't think I have it in me to turn into her. When I first read the first book, though, I did pluck up courage to go through socks and undies and I'm still benefitting from that.

I was supposed to be meeting with my Tuesday friends tonight but one has a family situation to support so in the end we called our meeting off. We can't meet next week either but, going through the new tranche of rotas released the other day, I can see I have most of September off and hopefully about a week away. I'm hoping that will be the start of getting back on an even keen for our Tuesday group, too.

Things I'm thankful for this evening: lots of laundry washed, ironed and put away; amazingly sweet nectarines, lots of time off to look forward to. :)

A short run is better than no run. Lovely to have some time off to reset and regroup ☺️

So very true. :) It's really gone by the by this year as I've been coping with other stuff and haven't had the heart, but even when I feel so unfit, muscle memory kicks in and tells me I'm a runner :) (even if I wasn't for the first 53 years of my life :D ).

Whenever I fall off the running I reset by doing interval training eg 1 minute running, 1 minute walking then build it up from there. Before I know it I’m back on it. I’ll never be a marathon runner though, not a chance in hell 😆

I am telling myself I'll be ready for a marathon by the time I'm 70. :D

I'm doing the first week of C25K again: a minute of running and 90 seconds of walking, so similar to yours. Would be nice if I could start where I left off and do a nice 5K, but even muscle memory isn't about to allow that. :D

And I never spotted you falling off the running! You always seem about to hit your 20K steps for the day!

Day off: I decided to make a bit of decluttering progress (maybe I need to re-join the decluttering thread?). As I said yesterday, there is a horrible lot of stuff just dumped in our room so last night I had a starter sort out and this morning I've chosen five pairs of my shorts, two tops, a dress my sister offered to me (and my daughter) but which isn't our style and a quilt cover inherited from DFiL. These are all in the 'donate' pile.

Okay, so I now don't have any short shorts, but I never wear them: I prefer cropped trousers or skort-type things and I've enough of those.

Other jobs for today: start tidying the garden, enter receipts into spreadsheet.

Amazingly, I have done my list for today! I'm fighting off a bit of anxiety though apparently A had a good weekend and was feeling better yesterday, and I know the house sale will just have to happen at some point so all I can do towards that now it tidy / clear stuff here. Anyhow, channelling the worry into doing something productive means there's now more light in the dining room! The raspberry canes outside have gone mad but I'm leaving those for now. I've cut back some shrubs quite drastically: I'd done both in spring but they had got out of hand again. I usually cut hedges to a height at the extent of my reach but I've gone a bit lower now, whether because I'm feeling overwhelmed by their size or a subconscious nod to advancing years, I don't know! They look like victims of a bad hair cut right now but given a few hours the leaves will re-orientate to the light and we'll be headed for a 'planned' look.

A couple of new list items: head down to the eco shop for some refills and do the ironing. Need to be home by three so we can ring the building society when DH finishes work. The solicitor needs to confirm some stuff for the sale of the old house and they won't talk to her without my say-so. DH is needed because he knows the system!
