I think it may come to that, INOD. It's easier just to check bookmarks. I've switched off most of the email notifications as I can read them here and my email is cluttered enough as it is.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I'm just using pop-up notifications. And hoping that the notification pane will start working properly at some point as that seems to be the best option.4

So Storm Ciara seems to have left before we expected her too: by this afternoon we had sunshine though the heavy rain has got in through the bay window roof which is a shame. The new ceiling inside isn't obviously damaged but we will need to have the exterior redone, probably by he-who-takes several months to get round to it. I had a phone call from L, who is visiting family some way south of us, and he was wading through floods.
Troubles among the offspring continue. Aside from the long chat with L, I've spoken to A and tomorrow DH and I are going to tea with L and J which is supposed to lead to further understanding... J has been away this weekend so she's not been in on things but she could at least have replied to messages. So could a number of people for that matter., it would have saved some of the underlying niggles. (Sigh).
I'm tired after staying up talking to waking night staff last night but at least I got my January time sheet in, and very fat it's looking. I also discovered I have an extra day off tomorrow, which I'd forgotten I'd asked for. My annual leave requests for this financial year are probably mostly processed now and I have over a week's leave to fit in somehow. Come April, the new staff will be much more up to speed and hopefully we'll be near enough fully staffed, and into a new session of bookings so there may not be many hours needing to be picked up and I might be looking at work from a different angle, trying to find myself some shifts rather than working a lot.
DH and I went to see DFiL this afternoon. He was in bed and very sleepy, and it was hard to understand most of what he said, though we did manage to get his hearing aids working which will help him. The lovely gentleman from a nearby room, whom we knew slightly from church years ago, passed away Saturday last which leaves quiet a gap. DH used to pop n for a chat.
Nothing spent today. Money saving... well, we had dinner at A's (H is away). Tomorrow will also be dinner away and on Wednesday I have a leaving do to go to. No decluttering done.
I'm thankful for the storm passing over us quicker than forecast and the blue skies this afternoon, and that people are using DH and me as a clearing house for the family situation, even if I wish they'd sort it out themselves.

Unexpected day off, quite a chuck of which was spent asleep. I was much more tired than expected yesterday: either I was slowing down from all those shifts, or I'm fighting off some infection. My glands are up and it's painful to swallow but I put the latter down to a mouth ulcer at the back of my tongue.
DH woke me at three this morning to say I was keeping him awake by snoring! He didn't put it as bluntly as that but it's what he meant, so I went to sleep on the sofa and actually didn't wake properly till 10.30. According to my F!tbit, that's nine hours five minutes, hugely more than usual.
As I'd not expected the day off, I hadn't made plans but it will go to waste if I'm not careful. I have some study to catch up on, and there's always housework.
I've been looking at pictures of flooding and broken trees: it's still quite windy and changeable here but we seem to have escaped the worst of it.

Sorry to hear of your sleep issues and not feeling well
but glad you got a decent sleep. Enjoy your day off

My throat feels a lot better, thanks, and I think the glands are too so perhaps it was just a mouth ulcer. I hope so as a couple of colleagues have a really evil cold and I could do without it.
Today has been fairly restful and I got some more of my course done though I'm still behind. I also went to the shops but not much was needed so my spending is okay, and I've replaced the bathroom light which failed last night. It's a bit of an unusual fitting so I was quite proud of myself.
The big news is that DH has been offered the job! It will only be half the hours and a quarter the pay (and a fraction of the commute) he gets now but we can manage on that plus my income, and it will make such a difference to his stress levels and give him the chance to let his health build up. He has more health tests coming up as one set of symptoms isn't explained, but other area is looking better.
Tonight we had dinner with J and L (she is a fantastic cook): it was quite a wearing conversation as they wanted to talk about the difficulties in the family which are mainly between them and A at the moment. I think we made some progress and it also came out that J is upset that I don't ring her. I prefer texts etc but I put it right by ringing as soon as we got home and making her laugh - though I need to remember to keep it up.
Spending
Housekeeping £1.79
Household £5.00
MS
£2.38 left over from last week's food money - into savings
10th coin into savings = 20p
£2 coin into savings
DH was reading work notices and saw that the new pay scale comes in the day after his retirement date so he's going to look into deferring it by a day so he potentially gets more pension.
A load of laundry dried on the line then on radiators (though another load went in the dryer till part-dried then on hangers)
Decluttering
Enough used tin foil collected to make a big ball so that's gone in recycling.
Tonight I'm thankful primarily for DH's new job - a lift for him and income for us.

Thanks INOD.
Good morning world! The sun is shining. It still looks a bit blowy out there and it's going to be cold but the sun is shining, and that makes all the difference.
I'm a bit woozy as I didn't sleep so well and DH woke me up looking for things this morning, but I've decided to make the most of the day. There's a load of washing nearly finished, more to go in asap, and I want to press on with my course as well as the material to prep for tonight. Housework is needed, and I will be proud of myself if I can declutter a bit. I also need to pop into work to contribute to someone's leaving present, and go to the shops for dinner and some basic supplies that need topping up.
See you anon.

I seem to have spent most of the day on laundry but it's dried, ironed if needed, and I've put away all but a few towels that are on the airer.
NSD - the weather was truly foul at times, switching between lovely bright sun, sudden grey clouds and flurries of snow that didn't settle. I stayed in and didn't even go to sign my colleague's leaving card, which isn't good. DH got tea but had an evening meeting so I walked round to my friend's house - the only exercise of the day. It's good to get out though.
DS2 was on shift all day and I had a text two hours after his stint should have finished to say he was held up and would be another hour... he seems to get quite a few of these 14 hour sessions. The good news is that he's passed his probationary period. We've just been talking about his job and he says he's learnt enormous amounts from being in such a busy setting and feels it's escalated his experience considerably.
So there's nothing much to repot other than decluttering a couple of bits of paper...
My thankfulness list: DS2 passing his probation period, DD sending me some texts and a photo of her dinner, nice clean bedding and ironed shirts for a few days.
