Yes, and we're planning to go to somewhere that sells plants tomorrow...!
So - I finally found my mojo about eleven o'clock this morning and managed a few clearing up-type things before work. I did my wallpaper patching at long last and decided I'm not quite ready to be an interior decorator, though I'm less afraid of it than I was. The best you say for it is that it looks clean. There's no doubt the bay window needs work inside and out as damp had got through: we had the other one overhauled a couple of years ago and were told at the time that the repairs to this one might not be enough.
I also did some clearing in the bathroom and chucked out a chrome thing that held stuff that nobody used... I don't think anyone's going to miss it.
All this means I never got round to doing the back door or tidying the plant pots, but there's no point worrying about those now.

Tonight I was grateful to be out of the too-hot building for an evening walk with a client under a mackerel sky. Oh, and the wall paper finally being patched.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I use the phrase "a mackerel sky", much to my children's bemusement. I have explained it to them but not a description they tend to use. Straight to the point though!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

I've never heard that phrase about the sky but it sounds lovely

Those bulbs were a bargain!

Been a lovely day after not a lot of sleep - we went to a favourite garden, where DH paid the entrance for us all: normally we can gift aid the first entrance fee of the year which then makes our ticket last a year. Now they've stopped that scheme. I had a 2-for-1 I could have used but didn't think to bring it. Still, I've never managed to get back to reuse a ticket, so we're not that much out of pocket.
Our friends bought us all lunch which was very nice, both nice of them and nice to eat, and the sun shone... I admit succumbing to more plants at the garden shop.
When they finally got me out of the garden shop, we had a wander into the town which is delightful, the sort of place with very few High Street names but some great shops and I treated myself to various bits and pieces but didn't spend much on anything except those plants. There was a super craft shop with a sculpture section in the back garden, where I bought a tomato plant for 50p and, having left my other plants in the car, carried it fondly round for the rest of the afternoon apart from when a friendly shop keeper (probably worried about compost on her stock) offered to guard it on her counter and even provided a paper bag for it. We had huge hilarity in the same shop when our friend wanted to try on some shorts that were on a mannequin, but it turned out the mannequin was either a difficult fit or shameless as it ended up trouserless! We and the staff were all falling about laughing: I'm sure they will remember us.
Various other shops later, we went for coffee and cake (DH bought these) and eventually headed home, at which point it started to rain.
I managed a bit of money saving as I'd prepared soup in the slow cooker and bread from a bread mix and they had given us a cake so we ate well and watched Britain's got Talent.
So I've bought all sorts of bits and pieces: the plants, some small balls of yarn from a charity shop to practice crochet on, a recipe book for a charity fundraiser, a bottle of water and some little embroidery kits (again from a charity shop). I also went for groceries and sun cream this morning. I think that's everything.

Love it! The best kind of shopping of course! My children would be sympathetic to second sentence!

Yesterday and today have been NSDs and for me, two working days. Our friends went home this morning and DFiL moved into his nursing home this afternoon. Since Christmas, he's been in his own flat, in hospital, back in his flat, back in hospital, in nursing home 1, in an extra care facility and now in nursing home 2 which has more spacious rooms and the best reputation in town. Amazing to be in his upper eighties and able to cope with all this change. I really hope for a smooth patch for him now.
I haven't been involved in the move at all, but I've fitted a lot in the last few days and I fell asleep after work. However I'm on two long days of training from tomorrow, then back on shift Thursday and Friday so I need to find some way to wind down.
Nothing to report either financially or decluttering-wise.
I'm grateful for a few quiet hours, lots of people I know going on the course (which could be quite tough) and not having to go too far to get to it. Oh, and chocolate.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I've just checked the bank and paid another £44.44 off the mortgage. That's it for overpayment this month as I have a regular overpayment and I put £200 over earlier in the month once I'd rediscovered that interest is paid daily. So £302.95 overpaid in total this month.
The course was good, but I was all in by yesterday evening and fell asleep for an hour after work before my usual Tuesday hour and three quarters with my friends (which was shortened a bit as I was trying to get our printer to work. In the end DH had to reinstall some software so at least that's a job out of the way). I did go to the supermarket for snacks to keep me going today and opted for hummus and crudit!s, which was fairly healthy. I also managed a 10 minute run in the lunch break today and felt better for it.
Spending:
Housekeeping 28/5/19 £10.17
Housekeeping 29/5/19 £7.83
Magazine 28/5/19 (my excuse is I had been eyeing it up for a while and I was tired) £3.99
Plants 29/5/19 (half price, I couldn't NOT, could I?) £6.00
Mortgage OP 29/5/19 £44.44
MS:
Took pack-ups to training, thus resisting the canteen and the local garage shop.
Saved £6 in theory by buying plants half price. I won't say too much about not having been going to buy them at full price.

Wombled 1p.
Decluttering... None.
My things to be thankful for today: the course is complete and was useful. I'm not as tired as I was yesterday. I have Banoffee-flavoured oats for lunch tomorrow. I have new clematis and honeysuckle plants. I've managed to do the washing between the demands of the work/life balance. My hair is washed and ready for work tomorrow, lunch is made and I've chosen what I'm going to wear.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
