Take care it sounds like you've got lots going on!
Hope DH is feeling better soon too

Thanks Wannabe.
He is feeling much the same apart from one bizarre thing; his ability to put things into words has speeded up! Honestly: he's talking faster and not having to stop to think of how to put something! Having googled, he thinks the raised temperature may be dilating blood vessels and increasing the blood supply to his brain. Good job he has a couple of days off now.
I haven't anything to report money-wise. I got a good night's sleep last night and DS2 managed to send the funny photo that didn't get to us the other day, so there are some positives going the rounds.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I'm glad DS2 arrived safely and you've had contact from him recently
. My DS2 got back from his travels on Friday night and it's so nice to have him home
. He'd only been to Europe but was away a whole month.
I hope DH feels better now he has the antibiotics. It's good that the decorating is progressing. There's something so nice about fresh paint and wallpaper.

Thank you everyone
It's been a full and rather chaotic weekend so I'll try to explain it without going on forever.
I've been working lates and overnight last night. Work has been okay but mostly so because we didn't have much slack in the staffing so we had to play everything quietly. When I say quietly, I don't mean the noise, which seems to have been coming from several directions at once. I did manage to get quite a bit of exercise in one way and another, and three good nights of sleep (though my Fitb!t entirely failed to pick up me waking up twice to the sound of a client talking loudly in the night).
DH has been really quite poorly: he ended up at the out of hours GP on Saturday night and with a raging temperature this morning, and has actually managed to spend most of the weekend resting. He finds that harder than going out, though, so he collected his new prescription and had a drive out to sit in the car at a beauty spot while I was working. I was getting very anxious about him so (religious mention coming up so look away if you aren't happy with it) I got some friends to pray. My anxiety levels have dropped a lot since then and when I got in from work tonight he was just waiting for the painkillers to take effect but seems different. He said cautiously that he feel he may have turned a corner, though his temperature is still fluctuating and the headache is still there. He doesn't look so drawn, though. A friend who is a pharmacist think it may be flu but surely flu doesn't start at the beginning of one month and go on to the beginning of the next?
I tried to send off my timesheet at work and found there had been a mix-up over annual leave so I'll try to sort it with my manager before I make the claim.
Meanwhile, a letter arrived for DS2 and I managed to get in touch with him to brief him: turns out he's been caught on a speed camera but will have time to do the paperwork when he gets back without risking it going back too late. Also in the post was a letter inviting us to the trial of the burglar who broke into the shed the other week. It seems incredibly soon! I don't think we'll be going unless they want us there as they have a confession from the culprit.
Money-wise the food budget has gone to the wall again. We went £5 over to get chips yesterday, then I had to get groceries yesterday and bread today... I think the main problem is that food costs more than we are allowing, but I also had to stock up on basics at the beginning of the week. It's been sufficiently stressful though that I'm just going to draw a line under it and say these things happen. I do feel a bit bad about this as I know so many people have to find a way to make it work and I have the luxury of not having to do that, though obviously what we spend on food doesn't go to the mortgage or anything else for that matter.
This coming week could be based at home or could be a trip to work on Mum's old house, depending on how DH does. Tomorrow is due to be another training day, then Tuesday is J's birthday and the decorator is due both days. Wednesday is either about an overnight trip to Mum's, returning late on Thursday for training on Friday or going to the training that I've been let off for now, having Thursday off and sticking around for DH, then going to Friday's training/shift. We are all due to go out for pizza for J's birthday so I hope DH feels up to it.
Spending diary may be a bit haphazard as I grovel around for old receipts:

Half a dozen bits of paper gone. Checked through last year's diary and finally packed it away. Found a few bits for the charity bag.
I'm thankful for DH seeming better and me not having to wage a battle against anxiety today. For contact with DS2, for warm weather this morning and for white blossom in so many places. For support at church, an interesting talk and a walk in the sunshine.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

A bit of an unusual day today: a training day (we seem to be having lots of these) at a different venue - the trainer stopped in the middle of a sentence at one point then apologised for being completely taken aback because some wild rabbits had just appeared at the window! (I'm not a vet or a farmer or anything like it, the rabbits are apparently a known phenomenon).
I got some shopping on the way home: two stops as there was a cheap shop en route but DH had requested a particular dish that needed stuff from the usual supermarket too. Later in the evening we had a companionable saunter to get him more painkillers and allow the cool evening air to get his temperature down. He had a chat with the pharmacist who reassured us antibiotics may take a while to show an effect. He's not as good as yesterday, I think, but his temperature was down again by bed time. I think it depends where he is on his medication regime, and cold compresses are really helping.
It's J's birthday tomorrow but she and L are out for the day and the plan for the evening is for us all to go out for pizza. DFiL has been invited but declined. I hope Dh feels okay to come, it would be a shame if he missed it.
Days off coming up: still not sure what I'm doing with them but at the moment I'm inclined to stay at home and look after DH.

I'm thankful for DH still reasonably stable and taken the day off today (I hope he does tomorrow too!). Rabbits at the window during the course..

Oh dear Cherry,I hope your poor DH gets better soon, there are some nasty bugs going around at the moment
Talking about finding spare change, my mum and dad just had one of their arm chairs reupholstered and the people who did it found £15 worth of change in the bottom of the chair:eek: it's the chair my dad sits in so it must have fallen out of his pockets

DH is marginally better but had a bad reaction to the painkiller and couldn't keep anything down for hours. He's therefore a dose behind on the antibiotics but on pharmacy advice is back on them this evening, though he could only have a sip of fluid with the tablet rather than food, or risk being two doses behind. His temperature hasn't spiked till this evening but by then the morning painkillers had worn off and people do tend to be better during the day.
I had a short run this morning and felt better for it straight afterwards though not so good later. The weather is good for running, though, so I'm going to make the most of it. I've also bought fruit and taken my vitamins - need to look after myself.
I visited DFiL for a while this afternoon and am going to try to take him to get his hearing aid adjusted tomorrow morning as I decided not to attempt to fit in a visit to tidy up prior to my sister visiting to work on Mum's old house. It means she'll have to wash bedding etc before she starts but she will be arriving in the morning when she comes so hopefully that won't be too much of a problem. I decided I would be of most use - and worry less - if I'm at home where I can keep an eye on DH. It also means I won't be as tired, could possibly get to Wednesday's training and will get computer time to prep a brief presentation I have to do for staff on Friday.
We have bought DD tickets for her birthday which isn't cheap but should be a good day out and won't be clutter in her rather minimal lifestyle. Tonight was pizza for her birthday tea with her best friend and those of the family who are around. DH wasn't well enough though I think he might have tried if he could have eaten, and DS2 is still away, though he sent her a photo of a local delicacy where he's staying. I don't think she was tempted. Chicken feet, anyone?

Decluttering:
A couple of unloved children's books in the charity bag. Some ancient conkers in the compost. Two old plastic bags in the bin. Not adding these to my signature tonight but I need to do it soon.
Today I'm thankful for DD and her partner, for DH being well enough to walk to the shops and for lots of help from the pharmacy. I'm also thankful for DD's childhood friend who came along tonight and is as nice as ever, and for indirect news that DS2 is still okay.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Some more spending today, and I'm temporarily locked out of my accounts having run a clean-up programme on the computer. The key to the passwords is out of reach due to all the stuff that's been moved out of the lounge! A few days in and I'm thoroughly fed up with all this mess - which I guess is how the family usually feels with the levels of clutter I'm near enough comfortable with.
The best solution seems to be to chip away at things.
Meanwhile my everyday jeans are wearing out so I made good use of a free hour and a half and tracked down a nice pair in a charity shop for all of £2.99! They have embroidery on which makes me happy, too. I also went on a hunt for a good way to carry my crochet hooks when travelling and ended up with yet another project: a DIY case which of course is yet more sewing.
DH has been much better today though come the late afternoon the headache and temperature came back so he has decided not to go back to work tomorrow - to my relief. Other than that I had yet another training session at work - I've never had so many since I started, years ago but they are preparing to extend the service and I'd been at the forefront of moaning that we didn't have the training, so I can't complain too much. I've also been messaging my sister in law who is trying to find the best accommodation for her dad. I had information as some of my colleagues have insider knowledge on these things which has been really helpful.
Well, some degree of progress is going to be useful for my peace of mind, so I'll post my list for now and see what I can improve around here.
Spending:
Housekeeping £3.60

Tonight I'm thankful that DH has been a lot better (though he's got past the more-or-less-compliant stage and is emerging into worrying about what I call minor things again). Also I'm grateful to my colleagues all piling in with useful experience to do with elder care facilities. And I like my happy jeans.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
