Once again I'm too tired to do much tonight, but it's been a really productive day: the latest x-rays show a significant improvement in my arm so I now have to rebuild the muscle to the point where it's strong enough to use at work. I also have permission to start running again and that's wonderful.
DS2 gave me a lift to the hospital and we went on a supermarket trawl afterwards so there has been a bit of grocery spending and some petrol for him.

Today has been expensive.
The car made funny noises at us after not having been driven for a few weeks: turns out there was a problem with the brakes, so there's £300 gone. Better that than unsafe brakes but not expected.
DH cashed in his travel money card and got less than £40 back while I was expecting £200-250! However we went through the figures and realised eating out has done more than increase our waistlines, plus there was a payment in another currency that means a special trip came off the travel card that I'd thought was off a credit card... still it all comes out of the same budget at the end.
I've paid the unspent buffer money back into the holiday account but might need to fish some of it back out once DH has looked at the cc details (offhand we don't know which of these payments were holiday and which weren't. Hotel deposits went on the cc but hopefully these are all paid back now. We managed to get pen all over one of those beautiful white hotel duvets but acted quickly and got absoultely all of it out!! We also lost a hotel key, but they told us there'd be no charge. I think we may have left it on the table at breakfast and the staff had handed it in before we got to the desk. So we kept our deposit).
All that in one breath... phew.
The housekeeping money that wasn't spent while we were away has also gone into holiday funds, to offset some of what we spent on food.
So the holiday account is looking better than it was this morning by dint of rounding up dissipated funds, and there should be a bit more to come when we change our remaining currency. Not enormous amounts though.
Then again, DS2 has offered to be the courier for our next microwave, which is rather necessary, and he might get it as soon as tomorrow.
Then the good news: I've made this month's mortgage overpayment, and hit my target for this year! I'm pleased, but I'm not intending to stop there. I probably won't have as much to throw at it for the next three months, especially if I'm brave and reduce my hours at work as I've been intending to since I had this accident. I will still get the option of extra hours as they are so overstretched but I won't be obliged to do them - anyway it will probably mean we have the mortgage a bit longer but that's better than running myself into the ground.

I had to borrow a fiver from DH's share of the housekeeping... mind you've I've bought a larger share of the week's food so far, and rather a lot of coffee and hot chocolate.
And I have the weekend off! The last of a long run of them, as I'm working towards getting back on my usual rota. I've officially asked to reduce my hours, starting from the beginning of November. DH and I both think it's the right thing to do though the staffing situation is very tough at work. I can pick up more shifts if I want to, I just won't be obliged to work as much. I'm a bit concerned that this will put DH under pressure as his job is stressful and he'd be better reducing his hours, but he doesn't think that would be allowed.
I checked the mortgage account and, annoyingly, the money I paid in yesterday isn't showing yet, so I'm thinking it may not register in this month's payments. However, I've realised the month ends on Sunday not Monday so I don't need a buffer over the weekend as pay has arrived - so I've paid some more the remainder of September's money and some from October. That means the second of three sub-sections of the mortgage is gone, leaving only the original mortgage to demolish. So this really is the home strait! - albeit rather a long one.
I've also been for another run, no further than last time but it was lovely running in a clear, cool, blue-sky-ed sunset.
