Thank you Hairy, he was a real little character: was completely shy until his brother died a year ago then came out of his shell and became very chatty. No more guinea pigs for now though as two of the lads have allergies and DS2 spent last night coughing after tending to the guinea.
Not much to report today apart from a marginal overspend on the food budget after DH insisted he was going to make the recipe 'properly' which involved red wine and cherry tomatoes, while I would have used tinned tomatoes and bunged in something flavourful that we already had, like Worcestershire sauce!
Nothing spent or saved by me today, but my storage cannisters turned up so I'm off to unpack them.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Very much so - and I keep thinking things like 'I must get him undercover in case it rains'.
Talking of which, it's been raining since tea time, not just ordinary rain but real, dramatic thunder-and-lightening-rain. It's still pouring but the thunder has stopped.
I had a work meeting this afternoon to touch base, nothing particularly exciting, then went to the shops for a few bits and pieces and to drop off a parcel. Getting out less money in the hope of leaving some of it in the bank didn't work so I have the housekeeping money in cash for the week again.
Spending:
Housekeeping £5.17
Donations I forgot at the weekend £2.00
MS:
Leftovers for dinner (also creates fridge/freezer space)
10th coin savings 50p
Decluttering:
Assembled all my knitting stuff either in the knitting bag or in the right containers.

No rain today but everything is so much fresher! Even the brown grass looks greener already!
I had a physio session today and she unknotted some very tense muscles - she's very good at her job! Feel much better and the range of movement is still increasing.
Other than that, I've finished the main part of a baby blanket I'm making and am now trying to learn to crochet so I can give it a border. As I was tidying out the sewing and knitting corner anyway I've got all my crochet hooks out, and a 1980s book on handicrafts, and YouTube and some cheap yarn... you know when tidying up makes more mess? That's it. However, the centre block of the blanket is done and bagged up neatly till I master the art of making the border!
Spending:
Groceries £6.92
MS:
Dinner from freezer.
£2 savings jar £2.00
10th coin savings 5p
Confessions:
Bought yet more fruit... it's so nice at this time of year but I just counted 29 portions on the sideboard, and a melon!!!
Decluttering:
Enough weeding in the front garden to see progress.

Quite a bit spent today in one way or another as it was my FiL's birthday and we treated him to a day out. We all had a lovely time which included lunch, beautiful gardens and dinner at home. DH paid for most of this, as well as petrol and entrance fees. The only bit that I bought was the ingredients for the evening meal, some of which we already had, and some washing powder that was significantly discounted. I decided to put the food spending down as 'entertaining' as the meat, cream, strawberries and jam were extras. I know we ate too but we already had in the rest of the ingredients so I feel that's our share of a meal that fed six, then the lads both had extra portions after FiL had gone home!
Spending:
Housekeeping £5.20
Entertaining £8.68
MS:
Leftover cream made a couple of ounces of butter
Saved £2.80 on usual price of washing powder

Not much to report today: my friend is kindly teaching me to crochet so some wool and a crochet hook were in order - I'm quite pleased with the results so far. Actually I'm rather amazed: in all these years I got as far as making chains that I kind of crocheted into each other, the pinnacle of my achievement being earlier this week when I laboriously learned single crochet from a mixture of YouTube and a book. She already has me doing double crochet and turning corners! So I'm very happy with that.
Walking to her house and back via the shops has taken it out of me a bit so I'm aiming to get to bed before too long.
Dinner was tuna pasta and we already had all the ingredients in, so no food spending today. We also noticed our milk hasn't been delivered, which is a saving and not inconvenient as we have a 2 pint carton but I'll email him before I go to bed.
Spending:
Pets £4.50
Donation £2.00
Hobbies £1.35
Book £0.99

Some progress on the garden, but as the weeding has uncovered untidy pots, it doesn't look much better!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

That is impressive Cherryfudge. A couple of weeks ago, someone in our village did a demonstration and I tried, but didn't get too far. Very impressed by the double crocheting.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.
