Help with Credit problem - Maritn please help

Hi All,
I'm a newie but would appreciate some help. I had my phone stolen 3 years ago and it was on a Saturday night and I registered it stolen on the Monday(April 2005), by then someone had made over £1000 worth of calls on it. It took me 10 months to claim partly because it took Vodafone 4 months to sent me the right bill, then I made the payment through Carphone warehouse who my insurance was with. I paid vodafone in full but as a result Vodafone put a deferred payment record against my credit record.
It affected me two years ago when i got a mortgage and I have come to re-mortgage and it is still affecting me!!! I have challenged it through Experian who have put a note of correction on but sent me a mail saying Vodafone have upheld the claim. I spoke to Vodafone who were really unhelpful and I have to write to their Quality Assurance Team who decide on these sort of credit matters, and their current queue is 14 days as of yesterday. I feel victimised as if I had known that not paying that bill then would have affected me for possibly 6 years i would have borrowed money or done anything to make sure it did not adversely effect my credit record. I am due to re-mortgage by the end of the month and I want to know how I can challenge Vodaphone..... and warn people of how dangerous it is when you lose your phone.

Thanks
Alex

 Hey sweetie,
I don't have any experience with things like this, so I can't be any practical help, but I just wanted to sympathise with the pig headed stubborn-ness of big companies in general, and let you know that i've just cancelled my daughters Vodaphone account because their customer service is so woefully bad.
(She's stayed within the "free" calls & texts of her £14.99 contract every month for 3 years - but 7 weeks ago we got a bill for almost £75 and we've been ringing and writing asking for an itemised bill ever since - to no blimmin' avail!)
But enough about me! I'm hoping that if I give you a little boost to the top, somebody more knowledgeable than me might see your post.

Hi Alex,
Sorry to hear about the problems you had with Vodafone. I've had problems with them in the past over an unrelated matter but they've always been really helpful to me, I guess it must depend who you get through to there.
Anyway, I don't know the answer but I recall reading a thread on here recently about getting Vodafone to remove a default they had applied unfairly - and I imagine the reponses on there will also be quite relevant to you....

If some of the words come up in red it's because I searched using these words to find the thread! Hope this might be of use...0 -
I can't say whether or not the default is justified without looking at your account. If you use the Online Contact Form on the Vodafone website to send an email, including FIT135 anywhere in the body of the text, either myself or one of my colleagues will be happy to look into it for you.
