This is how ive always done it but ive not yet bought a car thats 200 miles away, I dont want the hassle if it needs to be returned.
Hope you get it sorted.0 -
Thanks DCFC79 - Same here usually but the price was too good to miss mainly because I took advantage of car being sold for a basic spec and not the spec that it actually is.
I got a screenshot back from accounts payable of my £1.00 so all is good... Just need a delivery date of the car and I will make the transfer *gulp*0 -
Now resolved.
It was an absolute nightmare but we got there in the end.
1. It got delayed so it was agreed I go up and collect it and pay via debit - at this point this thread is resolved...or not
2. I lost my debit card the day I was meant to pick up the car (yesterday). Turns out I dropped it at work and someone handed it in.
3. Decided to transfer to another bank so I could pay via that debit card (checked limits first). Successful! Only it will clear on the 7th (today). So I cancelled as I needed it on the 6th.
4. Got to the dealership thinking I'll just do a CHAPS as I had already tested it with £1 as a fast payment.
Success! Or not... balance did not change.
5. 2 hours 30 minutes on hold, fraud dept, late payments debt, and whatever else, they finally managed to do a manual fast payments directly to the dealership.
Lost a days hire car charges because of the hour and 30 mins on hold with various dept. But saved £25 for CHAPS.
They did lose the full amount at one point but then it got found so I probably lost a few days of my life there too.
3.5 hour drive up, 4 hours in the dealership, 4 hours back down but I'm a happy owner
Thanks again all!0
