Make-up primers

All the reviews I've read seem to indicate that primers are for oily skins. I can't see one that is recommended for the dryer, more mature, face
Does anyone here in the 50-60 years old age group use this sort of product, and if so, which one?

Yes. Primers are for all skin types. Many brands make them to suit different needs. Moisturising, pores, glow etc etc.
Clarins do one for lines and wrinkles, only need a tiny amount. Helps smooth out the skin.
Cheap and cheerful try Superdrug, Boots or M&S own brands.0 -
I have combination skin and I use a primer under my foundation. I've tried quite a few but the cheapest and weirdly the best was using Lanacane Gel (the stuff you get to stop thighs chafing!) - I think it was Goss Make-up Artist that clued me on to it but it is a good option if you want to see if a silicone primer would suit you without spending loads. I love it (bit embarrassing to buy though)"I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0

I've now read a few comments about using Lanacane as a primer. Bought some today in Tesco and will give it a go. At only £6 it's worth a try.0

A tiny amount not only keeps your make-up fixed, but the foundation glides on beautifully too. Definitely worth a try.0

I'm using Estee Lauder illuminating primer at the moment and like it a lot.

I was impressed by this and thought about buying some. It can only be used for a week, though.
Not worth the risk. It's medication not beauty treatment.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

The only use for a week rule is if using to treat an itch etc as it could be stopping you from obtaining medical treatment for a serious condition. It is basically just a silicone gel to stop chaffing (unless you buy the "itch" one by mistake which contains antihistamine). It is as "safe" as other silicone gels/primers as both are designed to be put on your skin imho."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. I love Barry M's green primer - and it really does help your foundation or in my case mineral powder makeup last longer.0
