Hello,
A bit of background.
I was working for an independent business until 2nd Feb this year, on the day I turned up late and the owner told me to get my things and leave. I know you can't just fire someone on the spot for being late, there's protocol and procedure to follow.
Anyway, we had an argument and i said some things to him that you can't really say to your boss, swearing and the like, I then got my belongings and left. Since then, I've heard nothing from my line manager, general manager, or the owner despite texting my line manager on the day to explain what happened.
Today, I received a paycheck with one day's pay accounted for and a P45 in the post, there's no formal termination letter and for the last month I wasn't actually "sacked" I essentially stopped turning up.
This doesn't seem correct to me as there were literally no formal termination proceedings and although I haven't worked the rest of the days after the 1st Feb, am not entitled to the rest of the pay from February?

From what you've written about the only thing they might owe you is accrued holiday pay. I wouldn't expect a good reference from them in the future either.0

Yes you can! Well, given that you were either instantly dismissed for gross misconduct or you resigned without giving notice, then your only entitlement is for pay up to that moment and any accrued holiday.
As I said earlier, unless you have more than two years service you cannot claim unfair dismissal. If they don't pay you accrued holiday then you could potentially sue for that.0 -

The protocol for future reference might be to refrain from swearing at your boss.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Must be more to it, you must have been late many times and they had enough of it, you must have had warnings someone.
Maybe grovelling and not arguing with your boss would have saved your job. You need to learn to play it smart at work, WHEN you are the manager or at least permanent, you can stop pretending and be the horrible person you really are (as im doing :rotfl:)0 -

You sound a little like me in 2014, our bosses knew we weren't happy and there had been a bust up so I'd never expect to hear from them. They know you are alive. I've never done anything like it since.
Some companies have an AWOL policy - I know couple of our existing team just didn't turn up and it's always said they were tracked down away from our setting eventually and that they are ok which was the main thing. (Ended up tables reversed and I could easily thank one for going with the opportunity it opened up just when I needed it most perhaps, so can't judge)0 -

There is more to it but my original post would have strayed into essay territory if I included all of it, so I decided to be as brief as I could.

If you worked for him you'd understand, but yes, that didn't help matters. I hated the job and had been applying (and interviewing) for other things anyway, it sped up my departure, just not in the smooth way I would have liked.0 -
