Hi all

I was in a 2 year fixed with Woolwich. I was advised that if i remortgaged within 6 months then i would get the ERC of £1900 back.

I sold my property in Nov 2016 with march 2017 the end date of the 2 yr fixed period. I then went to look for a new mortgage with them in Jan 2017 for a new property and was told i would not get the £1900 back even if i did go with them.

i am a Barclays bank customer and feel weve been wrongly advised.

Ive sent a complaint to Barclays. What are my chances of getting the money back?

C

Depends on what evidence exists to support your allegations.

I had the same thing with Halifax (but 3 months). Complained to person doing new mortgage, he asked central Helpdesk who said no, complained again and it went to next boss up (area manager), they said no, asked them to justify and on day of new mortgage got refund in full.

I had proof as all over their website and letters (although can revoke anytime).

Did you call their call centre and you were told that? If you did they will have a call log and should be able to find the call. They will be able to listen to that and if you've been told that then you'd have grounds for compensation.

Ordinarily, Barclays would refund your early redemption fee in these circumstances. Sounds like it is mis communication which the Lender will resolve.
