I don't think they take too long to come through.

What is it that is worrying you though? Maybe we can put your mind at rest.

Hiya, I signed up with CCCS in May. I think the papers came within a week.

Don't panic. It really is the best feeling when you make your first payment to them and realise someone else is helping you ;)

Thanks both of you it’s just the feeling of anticipation when things will be sorted.
I think a little patience on my side is needed

Ok then next question when you have received the pack from cccs you just send the info back and they more or less do the rest.

    Regards

Sorry can I put your questions off track a little lol - do you owe anyone money connected to your bank account, eg, Lloyds credit card and you have a Lloyds account. Because you should open a new bank account in that case.

Just thinking give you something to do while you wait for the pack to come!

You send all your statements and account details to them.

They then send you a sample letter for you to photocopy and send out to your creditors saying that CCCS are dealing with a DMP for you and this is your reference number.

They also send you a payment slip to make your first DMP payment at the post office (by cash only). I did have an issue in that my debt payment was higher than my £250 daily withdrawal limit with the bank so had to plan ahead to withdraw it over a couple of days.

If you owe any money to your bank (ie have a current account and any overdraft or credit card) then set up a new bank account with a bank you don't owe anything to. Get wages/benefits paid in there. That way the bank can't "offset" your wages to pay outstanding debt ;)

Other than that, leave it to CCCS. If you get phone calls from the creditors just repeat - I'm on a DMP with CCCS and this is my reference number. And try and ignore any threats they make ;)

I just waited till I was really really annoyed at them ringing 3 times a day every day, and answered the phone with Yes. What! No. I've already told you ... kinda attitude :D

Don't worry too much though, for me the phone calls were only between the time I missed my payment to the time CCCS wrote to them - so only a couple of weeks. In fact I got one call from one creditor who noted about the DMP and then nothing from them, and only got bugged by one other creditor who rang 3 times a day and kept noting the same thing but kept ringing! Although I understand it depends on who you owe as to how annoying they are

  • Hello all

I am thinking of doing the CCCS thing. I thought about it earlier in the year - didn't do it and now am in such a pickle. The way I look at it - I've ruined my credit file anyway - and at least this way I'll be paying it in manageable amounts, hopefully. Do the creditors make it really hard for people who go down this route?

    Thanks
