    Yay for payday!

Shame about the silence from the job. When they say Friday, you kind of expect it means this Friday, not an unspecified one some time in the future. I wonder if they've got your email or phone number wrong? Might be worth ringing them to ask when you can expect to hear.

Meanwhile... did you get your furniture? :)

Cherry , I'm actually pretty sure she said "end of the week" as opposed to "Friday" so not sure what to make of it

I sent a follow up email yesterday and got an out of office reply, it was only for that one day, but did not mention a day that she would be returning. So who knows!?

And yes, I did get my furniture. It's just one of those cube shelf things. Cost me $45 but worth it for the tidyness and feeling like my house is finally finished. Now I just need to find some baskets/boxes to go in it.

It's a public holiday (bank holiday) here today. Thank goodness. I really needed it. I slept right through my alarm until 10am  Woops.

Anyways, I kind of fell off the posting bangwagon there for a bit, because I just didn't really feel like talking about anything (and I only had negative things to talk about). I promise I'll try and catch up on all of your diaries today. :p

This fortnight is not looking like a good one for debt repayment. I am hoarding my money for now. I need to get my sister a birthday present. And I have a hair appointment booked for Saturday. Neither of these are accounted for in my personal spending category, but my sister needs a present and I can't deal with my hair any longer. I haven't had anything done to it since December and it looks like a complete mess

I really need a pick me up. Feeling so drab lately.

Hey VF, sometimes you have to live as well as beat down the debt. I totally get the hair thing - it really effects me when my hair isn't right. Do you budget monthly for these things or just take it out of a general 'spends' category?

It sounds as though you deserve to get your hair done. :) It will make a huge difference to how you feel. And as you say, your sister's present matters too - but I'm starting to realise it's important this sort of thing is written into the budget, so you know that you aren't failing to achieve, you're in control and sometimes these expenses will crop up.

How nice to have your place fully furnished! I don't think the forum will allow photos, which is a shame. I'm quite curious!

Please don't feel you've got to read my diary cover to cover - lots of it is minor waffle about everyday stuff to keep me on track. As for yours: you are allowed to be negative if that's how you feel.

    Take care of yourself :)

Hi guys, long time, no forum. Haven't felt like talking much lately :(
I didn't get the job that I applied for. I'm a little bit sad from the rejection, but also quite relieved because it was very much a bandaid solution to the problem. It was the exact same job that I do now but for a different company, and I really don't like this industry. I'd rather do something else. Onwards and upwards. One door closes and another opens. You know the deal.

This fortnight is proving to be an absolute write off as far as debt repayment goes, I don't think I'll be putting any to debt. Oh well.

I am going to re-do my budget. Loosen the reigns a little. I'm realising that I need more money in groceries and personal if I am to live a normal life. The debt may not get paid off within the year, but I am okay with that.

I think I'm going to do cash envelopes for groceries and maybe personal spending too, and be more specific with budgeting things like petrol and whatnot.

Anyways, that's all for now. I'm off to have some dinner.

Hi VF, sounds sensible to me. If it's not working, change it...I think revising budgets is all part of it. The first budget we set are only really guessing and wishing at what we spend.

Sorry about the job. Do you know what you want to do or just that you want to leave the industry you are in?

Hope you enjoyed your dinner, I am off for breakfast ;)

I'm sorry about the job - though when you didn't hear from them for so long I began to wonder whether they'd be the sort of company you'd want to work for. Any ideas about other areas of work you'd enjoy?

Angel is spot on about budgets - we learn from our early attempts and maybe later need to rejig yet again. That's part of producing what works for us. I think it's like going on a diet: at first we're very enthusiastic and resist all temptation but then we find the long haul is about healthy eating and having small treats as much as cutting calories.

Hope you soon feel more cheerful... it's autumn in Australia isn't it? Not the easiest time to feel upbeat. Sending you some spring sunshine from over here!

    xx

Hi Angel, I don't know specifically what I want to do. I know that I never want to work in 'sales' ever again. I hate it. In an ideal world, I'd love a basic office/reception type job. I did not go to university so I don't really have any qualifications. Call me crazy, but I enjoy what most people would consider to be boring or repetitive. I find that when I have too much going on at work, I tend to let my personal life go to crap. Knowing what to expect makes me so much happier.

I have considered getting some kind of a certification in accounting or similar, as I like that sort of stuff. But studying costs money, and I don't really want to do that until I can get my loan paid off.

I also know that I don't want to do any of my personal interests/hobbies as a job, as that would ruin it for me.

    Have a lovely breakfast!

Hi Cherry, see previous post to Angel for some of your answers :p
Believe it or not, Autumn is beautiful here. We get mostly sunny days (although with a cold breeze) and of course the trees changing colours. It's cool enough to go out walking without being uncomfortable, but not too cold. This is not the norm for Australia though, I love in a part of the country that is not very tropical at all. We get all four seasons here, which I love.

That sounds gorgeous. Australia is on our bucket list, though admittedly more DH's than mine. DD spent a couple of months there last year (east coast) and loved it. I think I'd struggle with the heat so when we do finally book tickets it will probably be for your autumn or winter.

Glad you aren't suffering from the shortening days. :)

The whole thing about paying to study is such a dilemma. DD is in the same boat. Some employers will pay for her to take the qualification she wants, while she works, but it's so hard to find one of those posts. Long term, however, it will pay off. You don't need me to tell you it's important to be at ease with the job you do and the employer you work for - I hope you find a happier place soon.

Any time you feel you want to talk things through, you know we're here!
