Declined after almost 3 months

My wife and I have relatively high income (totalling above £100k). We got a decision in principle on a property in December from Darlington. Everything was going smoothly until February when they tell us after completing the valuation that my credit history isn't perfect. My past defaults and one CCJ are over 6 years, settled and I have had a clean history for the last 3 years (but they knew this all from the beginning). We are now going through Kensington. The experience with Darlington has left us shell shocked because we would never believe that a lender could decline on the basis of information they had at AIP (they should have declined at that point because nothing changed).

We are hoping this doesn't happen with Kensington. Although the are being very anal with regards to statements (I don't mind too much) but its very exhausting and I guess the time lost with Darlington doesn't help my nerves very much !

  • Kensington only search the last 2-3 years, which is why we are using them.
  • I take it this is interest only?

Kensington are horrendous to deal with...BUT they do normally get there.
I always know that I am going to get an email with about 15 requests for information on, no matter how much I try to pre-empt.

It is like they have a target or something!

But I have only ever had them decline one case in 3 years so I cant really complain.

The Darlington isn't exactly known for lending where the is any history of adverse, especially CCJs.

How did your application end up with them in the first place?

    It's repayment mortgage.

They just taken valuation fee! So that's a positive step forward I assume?
