Its no surprise that older people visiting branches is unrepresented in this poll - surely people that would vote in a poll on this site are internet savvy to a larger extent, which hence censors the votable population of OAPs, whom make up the vast majority of branch visitors, many of whom Im sure do not even have access to the internet. Some years ago our local bank was closing and we needed to get to a bank in walking distance. We moved to the only other one that was available. Over time it has been a pain when I go in. 1 teller and 6 in the queue the other day. By the time I got to the front there was still 1 teller but 7 in the queue ( 2 had walked out ). Most of the customers were paying in large amounts. It's about time they had 1 desk open just for this so the rest of us can be sorted in a min as I was once served. I don't want internet banking I want the personal touch. If we all did internet banking there would'nt be any banks open at all, so job losses AGAIN.
Paying in large amounts, in cash? Either businesses or dodgy (probably ;-) ). There is a separate desk for cheques usually, it's called a paying-in machine. Some banks even have such for cash (Halifax at least used to).
You should expect a branch to recognise the percentage split of customers' usage and adapt their methods accordingly - this is the manager's role after all.
Do discuss your thoughts with your manager, hear what they have to say. Complaining on here will get you nowhere!
If they cannot accommodate your needs, perhaps you should consider switching banks? I appreciate it may have become Hobson's choice somewhat regarding which bank you use when often only one will have a nearby branch - but that's another discussion.
Best of luckFriendly greeting!0
