Mortgage with a new job

Hi All.
I am new to this so not sure how it works.
My situation is as follows:
FTB
Deposit £138500
Mortgage needed £175000
House price £313500

I have secured myself a new role with a permanent contract after being in employment on a fixed term contract previously.
One of my colleagues in a same situation as me has had a mortgage approved with only 10% deposit and a new contract of employment.
So i decided to enquire around, found a house made offer and accepted.
Got in touch with london and country who advised me to go with Halifax as they accept future employment contracts as I start on 13th March 2017.
Put in the full application - provided all the info they asked for.
Application was submitted and rejected by Halifax the next day with no reason whatsoever.
I have checked my credit files and everything is fine - I have no debt - 2 credit cards small ones which I pay off every month.
L&C have also advised me as Halifax have not given no reason they will not be able to go to another lender for me.
I am very disheartened and just want to know should I just give up now or can anyone out there help me?

Thank you in advance

Is this a new role with the firm with which you worked on the fixed term contract, or a new firm?

Is the new contract a probationary contract, or a permanent contract with a probationary period?

Was the contract provided to Halifax for them to kick it out?

  • Hi,

This is a new role with a new employer and I have a permanent contract which states no probation period.

And yes contract was sent to Halifax.
They have given me no reason why either on a salary of 38k with no current debt my mortgage repayments would be less then the rent I am paying so I'm very very disheartened
