Remortgaging - Switching lenders

My current 2 yr fix with natwest is coming to an end in June and I've never swapped lenders before.

The mortgage I've found with either nationwide or first direct are both fee free, so no valuation, product or arrangement fees. But do I need to arrange my own solicitor (to handle transferring funds etc) & when do I apply for the new mortgage?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

We did the same thing this time last year. Came to the end of our 3 year fix with Principality so remortgaged to Nationwide. There were no fees and Nationwide handled the legal side all fees covered, not sure whether they are offering this on the product you are looking at? Ours was a 2 year tracker as our plan was to move in that 2 year period and the trackers don't have any early redemption charges.

I think it took ours about 6-8 weeks to go through, just make sure the remortgage completion date isn't before the end of your fixed period as you'll incur early redemption fees. We told them the date we wanted it done by and it happened a week or 2 after.

Thanks very much, that was a superb response exactly what I was after. Cheers
