NW application gone to underwriters...

My mortgage application with NatWest has gone to the underwriters, according to my broker. The valuation was done 2 days ago and my broker said this is common procedure, but part of me is thinking there is a reason why it has gone to the underwriters and not been approved straight away.
Is it really common for this to happen? And should I be concerned when I passed my AIP already and have got to this final stage?

I haven't been asked for any further documents as of yet either0

Every application goes to the underwriters.
Every mortgage needs to have certain documents (ie payslips/bank statements/ID) depending on the LTV and whether or not they have been able to electornically ID you. Assuming your broker has those documents they would have fired them off. There would/should be no need for additional documents.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. The only extra document I was asked to supply was my Memorandum of Sale on my current property, to prove where my deposit is coming from. I gave this to my broker Wednesday so that he could forward it to NatWest. Could this be why it's gone to the underwriters?0

ACG literally just said that all applications go to the underwriter.0 -
I would be surprised if Natwest asked for that. I imagine your broker wants it for proof of deposit for his file.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. The broker said NatWest wanted to see it0

He may have, but I still think it is for his requirements rather than Natwests - not that it matters, its nothing too taxing.
I have never had Natwest ask for anything that is not on the first page of that sheet. The second page are all things they may require but I have never had to supply them and I use them fairly regularly, maybe once a month.
