Moorcroft chasing.

Hi I'm just looking for some advice. I've had a payment plan with Moorcroft for a while now but missed a couple of payments.
I've received a letter saying they have passed my account onto their home collections department and that I could have someone turn up at my door.
What can I do to stop them knocking on my door?? I can't make a payment for a couple of weeks but I will finish paying them. Only £70 left on the debt but I'm petrified of them knocking on my door.
Please help I'm feeling sick at the thought of it.

    Hi,

Ignore there threats is what you can do.

So someone knocks on your door, they are just self employed collectors, with no more power than next doors cat, you either ignore them, or ask them to leave your private property, they are not bayliffs !!!

Filming them encourages them to leave (see you tube) seriously it's a non threat, what is it you are afraid of ???

I'd laugh at the letters they send out, they are ludicrous most of the time.

  • I'm scared because I've never received a letter like this before. I have no idea what to say to them and I don't really want a big bloke knocking on my door demanding money when I'm in the house on my own with 2 young kids. I know I should of payed it so it's my own fault but the thought is still really scary.

    It's extreamly unlikely to happen.

    Especially for only £70.

They rely on this kind of reaction so that you'll pay them.

There are people on this forum that owe £100 grand plus, no one ever knocked on there doors, don't worry about it seriously.

To put your mind at rest, email them the date you intend to pay, they will put your account on hold till then.

  • Sourcrates is right.

Moorcroft are collecting payments from me on almost £25,000 of our debts. They get £4 per month from us to cover that. For several months they got zero. No-one has ever knocked at our door.

Also notice the word "could", very important, it's dosent say "we will", it says "we could".

I "could" win the lottery this weekend, but I doubt it.

These letters are very carefully scripted in order to get a response from you.

I've seen lots, only very rarely do doorstep collectors turn up, they are usually used in cities or large towns where a number of clients can be visited in a short space of time.

They are not always men, anyone can do this job, and there won't be two, they are paid on a "results" basis, so two collectors after a £70 quid debt won't give them much commission will it !!!
