Just a quick one applied for a loan with them at weekend got an email saying would get an email with a decision within 48 hours. Not received any emails,

Anyone else had this? Will try and ring them tomorrow but working the hours they open so might have to wait till weekend.

Maybe they will send out something in the post,

Although I have had about 30 missed calls from them over the last 2 days. I know its them as when i try to ring the number back it tells me its them and they tried to call.

I would imagine this means I have been accepted as can't see them spending that much time trying to get hold of me if I haven't

    Hello there
They may be after some more information because in the past when i have gone for a loan they have contacted me either sayinig i have been accepted, but before they could send any of the paper work out they required up to date payslips etc. Therefore they can see you have sufficient funds each month to pay them back. If you were declined they just send a letter out !!! :p
Other than that im not sure but it sounds quite promising if they are trying to call you. :T

Hope this helps and good luck :D

Yes they were trying to call me to get me to take the ppi out, whats the point its ony £100 a month. I could afford that even if I lost my job and had to get one paying peanuts.

it was only about 1 with me, i told them i work in financial services which i do and know as well as he does its a waste of cash.
  • Very interesting reading all your posts...I was on the phone for 25 mins with moneyback whilst they tried to persuade me to take out the insurance thingy. In the end I settled for the £6 per month life insurance becuase the woman was so rude and would not give me a straight answer.

She made out like they would not give me a loan without it and skirted round my question "can I have a yes or no answer as to whether you will give me the loan without it?".

I have not signed anything (expecting paper work in the post today) so is it too late to cancel?

Emma Jayne, we had exactly the same problem, she would not tell us "yes or no" whether we got the loan or not for over 20 minutes and started off being very nice "oh a new car, how lovely" and when my g/f said very politely "can I just ask, are you trying to sell us payment protection" she said "yes", gf says "well thanks you very much but i've read all about it and don't want it" to which the woman starts ranting "but what if you die, all of your family will be out on the streets paying off your loan...."
GF replies "my b/f would support me" woman laughs down phone "there is no chance he couls dupport both of you - and what if he dies, you'd be bankrupt and out on the streets"

SO RUDE AND ANNOYING - but we had to keep being polite because really wanted to get the loan at that point.

As soon as g/f gets her mobile bill showing the length of the call we will complain to A&L (I imagine they will have lost the recodring of that call) and also to the FSA or whoever deals with this...

If I was you i'd just ring them up and say that you think you were mis-sold the pp and no longer wish to take the pp, just the loan on its own if thats what you want.

    M
  • MORPH3US - thank you so much for your reply - my phone call was exactly the same - "don't you think it would be better if you got the PP...what if you died? Would you really want to leave all your debt to your family?" I was getting so angry and redder and redder! When eventually I did settle for the £6 insurace she said "the only condition is that you don't comit suicde in the next year"

Anyway, I am going to call them tomorrow and just say that there is no point in trying to persuade me because my mind is made up etc etc. I thought I was really firm on the phone but she was so manipulative and not listning to me...arrgh

    Thanks for your reply!

They rang me about 20 times a day since monday but i was either at work or just got home and couldnt be bothered with it, then on wednesday i got an email saying i had been accepted and the paperwork would be in the post.

Thursday it came and then my phone rang a few more times from them answered it when i got home form work and it was the guy trying to sell me it, told him not interested etc that was it. Knew I already had the loan so was not bothered about that, besides if they didnt give me it because i didnt take the ppi then i would of just gone somewhere else plenty of other lenders out there
